Hi Evangelos,

This works in the same way as installing a .cpi pack installation file that you created yourself in YEM, i.e. with "Menu > Expansion > Pack Installation".

However, please note that installing a .cpi file will delete all previously installed packs from the instrument. Directly installing a .cpi file that comes with a pack is only suitable for "quickly trying out" the pack in question (as I said, while deleting the previous expansion content at the same time).

If you want to combine several packs, you must import them into the YEM and create your own .cpi pack installation file there or work with the WiFi/WLAN pack installation method ("Send to Instrument").

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Chris
I followed your instruction!
To great disappointment genos2 does not load cpi files.
If you tried yourself successfully let me know!
Best regards

Yamaha have converted some of the free packs to PPF now so that they will load into the YEM for use on Genos2.

Hi Evangelos,

Protected .cpi Pack Installation files are (just like .cpf Pack Project files) model-specific. This means, only .cpi files that are made for Genos2 can used with it.

Likewise, only .cpf files made for Genos2 can be used in YEM for the Genos2 install target.

Non-protected .ppi Pack Installation files can always be used on all YEM compatible models (for direct installation on the instrument), just as non-protected .ppf Pack Project files can be used in YEM for all models. Please note that with .ppi/.ppf packs there may occasionally be incompatibilities between the included voices and the instrument used.

And as a precaution, the important note again: When installing a .cpi/.ppi Pack Install file on the instrument, all previously installed expansion content will be deleted!

Best regards,
Chris

The new converted packs for Genos2 work fine and my Genos1 registration banks containing them are picking up from the new packs with no problem.
