Hi everyone,

on 2024-09-12 Yamaha released Genos2 firmware V1.10:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/updates/genos2_firm.html

Version History

V1.04 to V1.10
    • Changed the default setting value of the Auto Power Off function from 30 min to 15 min.
    • Removed the function to automatically set the time via wireless LAN.

V1.02 to V1.04
    • Fixed a problem in which Split Points were not reproduced correctly when loading a Registration Memory Bank file that included Split Points set to lower than C1 or higher than C6.
    • Fixed a problem in which loading a Registration Memory Bank file while playing an Audio Style caused delay in the playback.
    • Fixed other minor problems.

V1.01 to V1.02
    • Fixed a problem in which the Kbd Harmony/Arpeggio Type could not be read correctly when loading a Registration Memory Bank file of the Genos.
    • User Style can now be selected when editing the "Style" message in the Chord part on the display, called up by [MIDI Multi Recording] -> [Step Edit].
    • You can now assign "Dynamics Control" to pedals on the Assignable display.
    • Fixed a problem which the MIDI port name and number of MIDI ports may be incorrect when connected to a computer.

Best regards,
Chris

Huh? I always let the Genos2 fetch the time (via NTP) from the Internet. Why on Earth would Yamaha remove that possibility?

Hi Maarten,
This is only to do with the Auto power on and off. Not the clock.

Hello friends;

I have downloaded this new V1.10 firmware update on my iMac 24 desktop and copied same to a thumb drive. All seems good, except when I proceed to load the firmware into Genos 2 a message saying "update not found".  I have loaded former firmware updates before; so I find this a little baffling.

I have had a Mac computer for years so I do not think that's the problem, although I can be stood corrected.

What do you suppose the issue is and how can I fix it?

Thank you all. It's so good to be back.

regards,

Hi Ron,

Do you have another USB stick connected to the USB-to-Device terminal in the compartment underneath the instrument? Then please temporarily remove this stick and make sure that no other stick is connected except the stick with the update file.

If the problem persists, the downloaded update file may be corrupted. To be on the safe side, I recommend downloading the update again.

Then unpack the downloaded zip file again on your Mac and copy the unpacked update file to the root of the USB stick (not to a folder on the stick).

Please make sure that the copied file on the stick is really called "GENOS2SETUP.PRG" and is located in the root of the stick. (I've heard that on the Mac, unpacked files from zip files are sometimes automatically renamed.) You could also check the file size: The Genos2 update file V1.10 must be exactly 344,981,504 bytes.

If it still doesn't work, I would try a different USB stick as a test.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Hello Chris,

I can't thank you enough for the answer to my issue

It seems that the download comes to the Mac with the wrong name; that is it has an extra -2 in it.

I deleted the -2 part so it now is corrected to read GENOS2SETUP.PRG. Now it works, thanks to you.

To be clear, I did try two sticks and removed the stick in the bottom compartment. This still resulted in the same message about the upgrade not being found.

Again thanks for your most valued input.

You sir, are a vital component to this forum. Please watch over us

regards
