Is there a new YEM for someone who just bought and registered the Genos2?

Hi Guys,

Someone has probably already answered this, but I finished registering Genos2 and got no information about expansion packs or downloading them. I saw a link to two expansion packs on the forum, but what about the old ones, which are free, and where do I find the expansion pack manager. Sorry if this has been explained a hundred times. Thanks.

Hi GrannyRocks,

You can find the new YEM version V2.10.0 on the Genos2 download site:
>>> https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/musical_instruments/keyboards/arranger_workstations/genos2/downloads.html

According to my information, the free expansion packs previously available for Genos(1) will be revised for Genos2. Unfortunately, I don't yet know a date/schedule for when the Genos2 versions of these packs will be available. See also here:

I would investigate more about the new YEM software version as it has a glitch to some users, I've seen somewhere on another forum they are struggling installing G2 software. Apparently though you can load it via usb as a workaround.

Hi Des O,

On WINDOWS, I recommend uninstalling YEM via the Windows Control Panel / Apps and Features before installing the new YEM version V2.10.0. The YEM user data (previously imported packs) is retained.

If there is still an error when importing the new Genos2 packs (Genos Complete Pack and DX7 Pack), I recommend renaming or deleting the YEM User folder "Expansion Manager" under the following path:

C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Yamaha\

Note that the "AppData" folder is hidden by default. To quickly open the "AppData\Local" folder, I recommend the following method:
- Press "Windows" key + "R" to open the "Run" dialog.
- Type %LocalAppData% and press "Enter" key. (Note the % signs.)
- Double click the "Yamaha" folder to see the "Expansion Manager" folder.

Also note that YEM version V2.10.0 officially only supports Windows 11 and 10, i.e. no longer Windows 8.1 and older.

Best regards,
Chris

Regarding YEM 2.10.

It is reported that there is error in that version.
Look at this thread, scroll a bit down to see 'DaPaleRiders' reply from Yamaha Support.

If problems occur, I still recommend that you first carry out a clean installation of YEM V2.10.0 again (as described, after previously uninstalling the old YEM version and renaming or deleting the YEM User folder so that the YEM is completely initialized). Then re-import the Genos2 instrument info file (.n27) into the YEM (or let the YEM search for the Genos2 via WiFi) and then first import the two Genos2 packs into the YEM.

Many problems with the YEM have been solved in this way in the past. I would definitely try it first. If it doesn't work, we'll probably have to wait for the next YEM update...

I think I'll just wait. I'm not in a hurry and could use the time to learn more about Genos2. Thanks for all the information.

I don't have G2 yet, but v.2.10 is also to find at G1's downloadsite so I thought it would be worth to update.
As I described in my post, that did not go well at all when perform packinstall, so I had to to uninstall and reinstalled v2.7 to fulfill the task.
Anyway, Yamaha confirms that there is error in the version 2.10, so we'll probably see an update soon.  :)
