... to use a surround sound system (like those used to watch movies, etc)   

as an external amp for a PSR keyboard??

Yes and no. All the speakers can be connected but the sound will not be 5 separated channels.

That's a good question. I think if you go from the keyboard out jacks to your surround sound receiver in jacks, it may be possible to let the receiver process the info and deliver it to all 5 or 7 channels, depending on how new your surround sound is.

I used a Logitech 5.1 Surround system for a few years for smaller jobs - it sounded fantastic! Just connect it to the headphone jack of your keyboard and you will be amazed at just how wonderful it sounds. Be sure to use the correct TRS 1/4-inch cable when connecting to the surround sound's stereo input.
