MIDI Settings File Bug!

I have discovered what I am pretty sure is a bug in how the Genos stores MIDI settings, specifically the settings that control System Exclusive messages.

I created a group of MIDI settings. I labeled them with pluses and minuses that reflect how the Sy*** messages are to be transmitted and received, in order from the top of the Genos display for them.

I stored that group of settings as a .msu file to a flash drive. Then I reloaded that .msu file to the Genos. Some of the reloaded settings were not the same as the original settings. I have verified that the data in the file is incorrect with respect to the original settings. The reloaded data matches what is in the .msu file.

I don't know of a way to submit this report to Yamaha. If anyone knows, please tell me and I will be happy to submit it to them.

Hi Michael --

Probably the only entry point is Yamaha's customer support. Yamaha USA have this enormous table of contact information:

https://usa.yamaha.com/support/contacts/product_support_contact_info.html

I've had pretty good luck with Yamaha Customer Support: (714) 522-9011

They might suggest reporting by e-mail, carrier pidgeon, whatever.  :)

I can't help you on that one Michael, however, those are significant differences! I wonder if your experiment explains why recording the Genos into a DAW is nothing short of a Where's Waldo puzzle >:(?
"Learn" your music correctly, then "practice" it. Don't practice mistakes because you'll learn them.

I have recording from the Genos into Cubase figured out. It's complicated, but I didn't run into any bugs there.
