Hi
I'm just starting to explore the possibilities of creating styles using WAV or MP3 files.
Is it possible to incorporate these formats into an style or create one using them.
.If possible I want to create a style, or series of styles with say for an example, rain falling in the background or similar sounds, like sea or river.

Any advice welcome. I play an SX700.
Thanks
Keith

It would be best to use Audacity to create your own MP3 backing tracks. Then just play along with them.

Using Audacity, you can create your composition one track at a time. If you mess up any ONE track or don't need it, you can delete it from the mix. Create each part, drums, guitar, piano, horns and string on separate tracks and then mix them down using Audacity.

It will be so much faster and easier with the same result.

Thanks for this Drake, much appreciated. I understand what you're suggesting.

It's a bit difficult to explain. I want to actually have the MP3 or WAV file ( and I have some already) playing, as a PART of THE new style.
So let's say I delete the drum part of an existing style.... Can I then substitute an effect (rain, seashore) rather than a drum or string or horn etc
That's what I'm hoping.
I've got a number of 'effects' files and I want to use them so that they are incorporated into the newly created style.
It's important to me that as I play, the new style automatically becomes part of the new recording that I want to make.

hello Keith,
What you actually wish to make and you maybe didn't realized that yet, is custom voices and/or custom drum kits. Think again: the only thing that style needs to work, is a voice (drum kit is essentially a collection of voices). Depending on how you wish to use your "background effects" in a style, you will put your wav sample(s) either in a voice or in drum kit.
And then you mentioned raindrops, sea shore, thunder, etc. I can't imagine you would wish these sounds to be playing in background all the time (would be too noisy). That is, such "effects" are sometimes used in intros or endings and so I think drum kit would be more suitable in this case. But as said, it depends on how you wish to use effects and what kind of effect that is...  you can also create a voice and then use that voice in a pad.
Anyway, this can only be done in YEM by using 16bit 44100Hz stereo wav samples... time to study the manual  :)

You can find all the special effect sounds in your arranger keyboard, and using the onboard style creator program, insert any of them into any User style you create. The list of options is endless. Just select any voice, then press the up button, go to page2 and explore all the items available. You will be amazed at what you find.

Good luck,

Thanks Drake, Gary and Bogdan.
That's a great help to me, and I will have a good poke around this weekend and familiarise myself with the Style Creator and YEM.... I'll let you know how I get on. Big thanks to you all.

Keith. 🙂 🙂
