Paul Drongowski (aka pjd) has just come up with a cool way to create Chord Looper progressions.

Hit the RECORDING button. Tap Multi Recording. Tap StepEdit. Tap Ch1 and select Chord. Tap Step Rec.

Now you can enter chords by playing them in the Style section of the keyboard.

From there, follow Paul's instructions.

I followed the instructions, when I hit Ch1 and select Chord. Style will jump back to "Skypop".
How do I choose the Style from User, but not the Style from the factory?

Whit Step record you can only use on board styles.

I've not tried this yet, but if you create the loop using a preset style, then after the conversion to a chord loop on a pc, and load to Genos, that loop may be used with any style?  ???

Yes, Terry, that's correct. Chord Looper is good that way. One can try different styles with a particular chord progression. It works around the limitation in Chord Step Record which restricts the player to preset styles.

With Step record you can only use on board styles.

This limitation is a regression from previous generation Yamaha arrangers which did support USER styles in Chord Step Record. We've raised this issue many times before...

BTW, as to features like this, why not try them and see? It's how I found the ability to create a chord progression in Step Edit and import it to Chord Looper.

Can't really break anything as long as your keyboard is backed up. Your Genos is backed up, right?  ;)  :)
