In this article I'll explain, how you can install expansion packs (or premium) packs as a blind person without sighted assistance.
The expansion packs expand your keyboard with several new voices, styles, OTS and registrations. You can find them all visiting
http://yamahamusicsoft.com
For the Tyros 5 all expansion packs can be downloaded for free.
You need the Yamaha Expansion Manager YEM to create a file, which you can install onto your keyboard. How to create such .CPI-files will be covered in another article.
After you have created your installation file with YEM, the resulting file is a
TYROS5_Install_data.cpi for example, the name of course varies upon your keyboard.
You can rename the file to know, what's inside, for example
EntertainerEurodanceCeltic.cpi.
Be sure, that the extension .cpi is still there.
Now copy this installation file onto a USB-Stick. It's a good idea, to have only this file in the USB-Stick, in thte next step this make things easier.
Put the USB-Stick into your keyboard an power it on.
After your keyboard has started, press the function key.
After that, press for "Install pack".
Because you have only the installation file that we want on the USB-Stick, you have to press [a] to select this file.
After that press the [6] under the display, but use the bottom row [6].
Tip: to read the following screens, you can use Seeing AI on your Smartphone, it works prety fine for me.
After pressing the [6] "install" there are three more screens, warning you that all of the previously saved expansion data will be lost if you proced.
This questions can be answered by pressing [F], [G] and [f]. Make a pause of arround 10 seconds between each press.
Now the pack will be installed, and  this takes a very long time, arround 20 minutes.
If you like, check the display with Seeing AI on your smartphone.
The last step is to press [g]. Your keyboard turns of and you must turn it on again.

Excellent article, Marco.
Thanks for the explanation, it really helps a lot to those who weren't able to do this procedure.
I do it a little differently on my tyros5: After selecting the single CPI or PPI file added to the flash drive, I press the "enter" button several times and play the keyboard. When no notes are played, the installation process has started.
I wait a bit and go back to playing the keyboard again. If you hear something, then the selected pack (or packs) has been installed. I simply turn off the keyboard and turn it on again, as the Tyros5 does not restart by itself.

For Android users, there is Lookout which is very similar to seeing AI.

It would be interesting if there was a separate board on the forum that gathered tips for handling Yamaha keyboards by the visually impaired users.
What do you think?
regards,
Gabriel
