Hi,

I have both

* The Yamaha MFC10 (got a used one for 112€)
* The Behringer FCB1010 (got a new one from Amazon for 97€)

I did a comparison and found, the the FCB1010 is superior in all points:

* The FCB1010 costs much less than the MFC10
* The FCB1010 has a solid metal case
* The FCB1010 has an internal power supply, using standard cable. No need for external power supply.
* The FCB1010 has 10 switches and 2 expression pedals, the MFC10 has only one expression pedal.
* The FCB1010 switches work more smoothly than those from the MFC10.
* The FCB1010 works perfect to substitute a MFC10. It works exactly the same as the MFC10 in combination with Tyros or Genos.
* The MFC10 can send Yamaha specific Sy*** command to call style variation. But this is not needed. The Genos offers all functions in the external midi control menu without needing sy*** communication.

Only one points speaks for the MFC10:

* The MFC10 has inputs for 4 external expression pedals and a wind controller which the FCB1010 does not offer.

So I leave the MFC10 in the rehearsal room and use the FCB1010 at home. The setup works 100% identical. Find a picture here:

Hi voodoo, have you managed to use the pedals on the fcb1010 to Control the volume of the whole keyboard, like the dedicated expression pedal, I could only get the r1 r2 r3 left to respond... Thanks

No, it is not possible to control volume of whole keyboard, including song, style, multipads.  :(

Hi Uli,

The volume / expression pedal on the Yamaha MFC-10 can control the volume of the entire keyboard.  Did you try it?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

how can I do it? Selecting "keyboard" as part, only right1 to right3 and left are affected, but not song and style volume.

Hi Uli,

You are right.  At one point I thought the expression pedal of the MFC-10 can control the volume of the entire keyboard when I was playing the CFX Grand Piano as right1 voice on the full keyboard mode, but I definitely had poor memory on this.  I confirm that the expression pedal of the MFC-10 does not affect the volume of styles and songs, it can affect the right1 to right3 volume.  My MFC-10 expression pedal does not even affect the left voice volume.

For volume control of style, song, and multipads, there are already dedicated sliders:
Style:       Assignable slider 1
Song A:    Assignable slider 7
Song B:    Assignable slider 8
Multipad:  Assignable slider 2

As I use registrations more and more frequently, I found the value of the MFC-10 foot pedal less and less significant to me.  I actually stopped using it, put it away, and only used it for testing.

Thanks,
Paul

Paul,

Thank you for the quick answer.

Your mfc10 pedal should control right1-3 and left, when you select part=keyboard.

However, you are right. The value is restricted. I use it for style part switching. That works well. But I still need dedicated pedals for

* volume control (for right1-3, but not left)
* sustain pedal
* wah pedal
* rotary slow/fast switch.

Hi
I personally think that two decent footpedals are enough
One for drum fills and one for guitar type bending.Changing registrations is just as easy with fingers
I think that guitar bends are the hardest to get to when you have an intense song that you are playing .Ok if you have time or the same chord.
Expressions also good with practice.

all the best

I know this is on old post, but there is a "Master Volume" MIDI Sy*** message that might work. I'll have to try it on my PSR-Es and see if it affects all of the style and song parts, or just the keyboard parts.

The FCB1010 is quite the same as a MFC10, but more robust in my opinion.
You could program the pedals on the FCB1010 with Note ON on channel 16 starting with C#-1 on pad 1, D-1 on pad 2 and so on. Then it reacts like a MFC-10

As for the PSR-SX900/700, You could update the FCB with a UNO2 firmware (https://www.fcb1010.eu/uno2.html), then you can sent Sy*** on a pad for Intro 1..3, main 1..4, break and ending 1..3. Like
TRIGGER_CLICK SXFillAA = SendSy*** F0 43 7E 00 10 7F F7
TRIGGER_CLICK SXFillBB = SendSy*** F0 43 7E 00 11 7F F7
TRIGGER_CLICK SXFillCC = SendSy*** F0 43 7E 00 12 7F F7
TRIGGER_CLICK SXFillDD = SendSy*** F0 43 7E 00 13 7F F7
TRIGGER_CLICK SXBrkFill  = SendSy*** F0 43 7E 00 18 7F F7
TRIGGER_CLICK SXEnding1 = SendSy*** F0 43 7E 00 20 7F F7
