Hi, does anyone use these speakers, I have a couple of questions,(1) do they sound good (2) do I use them at the same time as my standard  Genos speakers.  I only play for my own entertainment at home and don't do any mixing.  Thanks for your time.

Never used or heard them, and not a name I am familiar with. They seem to be an organ adaption/specialist company. Whether you prefer the look/sound of these (or any other speakers) is a personal thing that only you can decide. Yamaha Genos speakers are already pretty decent, is there something you don't like about them. You could use them alongside your Genos speakers if you wish with the right connection set up, but why would you? You either like them better and use them, or don't. Speaker quality is not additive, might get louder, but it doesn't really get twice as good because you use two sets.

Thanks for this, I do like the look of them and I've read that the sound of the Genos is better out of better speakers. I have also considered turning the Genos into an organ but not convinced but I haven't heard the Genos with other speakers on so I an unsure what to do.

Turning the Genos into an organ?? If you have the ghance to try the speakers I would do that. But the Genos speaker set is very good. So why change it?

I suppose turning the Genos into an organ was a passing thought. But the speakers on my Genos seem very quiet so I thought I would ramp it up a bit with bigger speakers, I like a good all round sound with plenty bass which is why I was looking at these floor standing speakers.

Stijn

I used the Tyros speakers for a couple of years, but like you, I was looking for a good all round sound with plenty of bass.

After a demonstration in the music shop I decided to get a couple of Active studio monitors, the Wharfedale Titan 8 with matching sub woofer.
They really sound very dynamic and full, exactly what I was looking for.

Yamaha has a similar set of speakers; the Yamaha HS7 or HS8. Together with the Yamaha HS8 sub woofer they sound very good.

There are many posts here about speakers and about adjusting EQ to get better sound. The Genos speakers should sound loud and clear. Have you turned up the volume of the sub to full and set the bass to max?

Bass is set to max, I have not changed the EQ something for me to try before I purchase expensive speakers thanks.

When the Genos first arrived, we had no Genos speaker stock, so I hooked up Tyros 5 speakers to our display unit.
It wasn't until we actually had Genos speakers in stock that I discovered how poor the Tyros speakers were.... the Genos speakers are miles clearer; but at the cost of no true subwoofer (the 2.1 set contains more of a midwoofer; you're supposed to purchase an actual sub to go with it (KSSW100) to really add that bass depth, but the clarity is amazing, and sounds fine without the additional KSSW sub.

Not sure why you're getting low volumes though; when I demo ours, I have to turn the volume down to halfway because it's too loud! Have you turned the front and rear 'volumes' to max?

A pair of Yamaha HS7's or 8's would be slightly clearer (but then you *definitely* need that subwoofer)

If you need 2000w of speaker output:
A pair of QSC K10's (original, not mark 2... the mark 2's lack the necessary bass reflex) would be supreme; as would any of the newer JBL Eon's (but both these options would require a $1500-$2000 speaker budget); the best speakers (IMO) that you could get are the QSC KWW122, but at a $3k budget.

Kath001

What do you mean by front and rear volumes?

Toril S

Front: Volume of the bass. Rear: Volume of the whole sub. Of the Genos speaker set.

As far as I can see these TRG speakers are not really from a specialist speaker company. It looks to me like they just package stuff, and are as much about the rather throwback look as sound. They might be very good, but there are lots of great speaker options available. You should always hear the speakers yourself, especially if they are pricey. And a good idea first to make sure you have played around with settings with what you already have, as people are saying here. You are only playing at home, so you don't need a lot of power.

Having worked in the Speaker business for many years of my working life I recommend you look at a pair of Active Powered Monitor Speakers from a Dedicated speaker manufacturer brand.
Worth spending time in a retailer with a selection to listen.

Also Search Youtube Speaker reviews but keep in mind we all hear things differently so it's your ears that will make the choice.
A good pair of Monitors with care will last you a life time.

Hi Kath,

If you are seriously looking to turn your  Genos into an organ, l would advise staying clear of the TRX system as it is way overpriced for what it is. You can do it yourself by buying something like a Yamaha NP 32 for the lower keyboard and a set of bass pedals. As others have said, there are quite a few good active speakers at reasonable prices that would be suitable.

Kind regards,

Russ

Russ - Take your point but many people are happy to pay a premium for the convenience of having it put together by someone else. Cost is not always the driver. What is probably more important to those people is how well it works 'out the box'.
Speakers are a bit different though because the standard of speakers is so good nowadays. Back in the seventies and eighties we were all buying huge wooden box speaker systems for home audio. But small speakers are great now and if you really want big bass you get a woofer you can hide out of sight. Big box speaker systems are a bit passé for home use. Even big venue systems are now moving this way with set ups like Bose and the like.

Be aware that there are volume controls all over Genos, I found mine to be quiet when it arrived and like you was at the point of buying new speakers, but after a long look at the keyboard I found that there is a main volume on the last slider and after adjusting this the volume was much better. I would also change the EQ setting just in case.

Kath001

Thanks for this, I'm off to have a look now see what changes I can make before going further.  I have had lots of good advice from this forum thanks to everyone that has contributed, much appreciated.
