About OLED screen, faders and knobs

Hi,
I could play on a Genos this afternoon at my favourite local music store. It had OS version 2.0.
I did the following experiment:

1) First set the OLED screen to display the volume values by pressing "Slider assign B"
If I modify a volume value (ex: volume of Right 1) using the touch screen, the volume value on the OLED screen follows.

2) First set the OLED screen to display the attack value of a voice by pressing "Knob assign"
If I modify the attack value using the touch screen (in voice settings), the value on the OLED screen does not reflect the change. Same result with other voice settings Parameters (Chorus, Delay...).

It is confusing to me that the OLED screen does no react in the same way.
Has anyone also noticed this behaviour, or am I missing something here?

I *suspect* that it's because the volume slider is dedicated to a specific part, so changing the value on the touch screen will change the same value on the OLED.

However the default attack value knob is not dedicated to a specific part (same goes for chorus, reverb depth etc) - it's assigned to all panel parts. So when you change just one on the touch screen, it's not changing the others. So the value on the OLED and the individual voice will be out of sync. If you adjust the knob again, then the touch screen should show the same value as the knob.

I have used slider assignment set 2 to adjust reverb depth and volumes on each of the panel parts individually, because that is what I adjust most frequently, so I want it to be convenient (even though it's partial duplication of set B)

Hello DerekA,
your explanation was very helpful to me. The value on the OLED display will only match the value of the touch-screen if the slider or knob controls a single Parameter.

I thought that the sliders and knobs would simplify the control of the mixer, because I find beneficial to have a quick access to the mixer (volume, pans, reverb...) at all time. Sure, they can do that, but only a reduced amount of parameters are controlled. I wish that Yamaha would implement the possibility to get the faders and knobs assigned easily to what is displayed on a Mixer page. And if I change the page, the parameters change also. This might require adding some "selection" buttons directly on the side of the screen, to select 2 rows of parameters to control. Another idea would be to replace the physical sliders and knobs by a second touch-screen dedicated 100% to the mixer. IMHO there is too much "touch" required with the unique screen of this instrument. The new PSR-SX900 for example has many shortcuts to access directly specific areas of the mixer, plus the "Mixer" button cycles through the pages : very useful improvements.

What you're describing there sounds a bit like Tyros 5 - when you select a parameter on the mixer, then the sliders below the screen act on the row you selected. For example, if you're on the style tab and adjust a filter cutoff, all the sliders now operate filter cutoff on the various style parts.

I agree it would be an interesting option to have say a touch button on the mixer page which put the sliders into this mode ("control everything on the selected row"). After all they do a custom set of assignments for the organ flutes voice setup. Even better if this mode could be assigned to one of the A-F buttons.

Thanks a lot for this guide. I've been in love with OLED screen for a such a long time now but was hesitate to buy but since I have read this review, I am considering to purchase. :) I also think this will be perfect when I play games it will be more glowing which is awesome because I am currently addicted to the scary granny game on pc. The house is bigger than before. I think you should check that out.

Also, I think I have seen a comment here asking on how to get gacha club for free, just check the link provided. :)

Is this a secret coded message? Is Casio about to invade Yamaha or something??
