Mic or Cables you use with SX900 ?

what kind of Mic or Cables you use with SX900 ?
aparently for some strange reason yamaha people decided to use a 1/4" jack input instead of proper balanced XLR mic input  now when I wanna plug in  mic like shure beta58a I have to use a XLR to 1/4" adapter or XLR to 1/4" cable.
