Hi :

Since 2002 Yamaha never made an XGW Update nor an Upgrade. :-X

XGW is the Best Midi Sequencer EVER made for Yamaha arranger keyboards.

Why are Yamaha not launching an XGW for newer keyboards like the Genos and the SX versions ?

There are so many XGW users and all are ready to BUY an XGW Upgrade.

So Yamaha ... PLEASE !

Best wishes, Babette

XgWorks version 4.0.0.E
Copyright (C) 1996-1999 YAMAHA CORPORATION
ALL Rights Reserved Translation by Johannes

This is a Japanese version
It is translated in English but not for 100 %
Some new things
The chordtrack has a transpose function

Nobody knows you can work with mci commands
With this command is it possible to start muliti media files like video and mp3
this command works in all versions
Set this command in a list track and with open or start opens a media file from your hd

IMHO the XGW 4 is not a version that was/is popular in Europe, the UK, the USA and Canada whilst it was a version that originally was made for the Japanese market only,
right ?

There is a big demand for an XGW 3 Upgrade.
That is what all of us need, I guess, right ?

Yes that's richt
The chord transpose is very useful
when you have a xgworks instald version on your computer and you want to use it on
an other computer
The only thing you have to do is copy the dir xgworks on a usb pen
And copy the dir on the other computer
it works also on win 10
All settings and ini files are in it
Only you have to install the xgworks font in the win systeem dir
Make a link with a desktop icoon to xgworks.exe
Now you can start it from your desktop

My wishes only since 15 years.
When Yamaha acquired STEINBERG Music Software (one of the biggest music software companies) in 2005
I thought they use the combined knowledge for a professional software ...
something like a "cubase YAMAHA KEYS" edition or a NEW XG Works for actual century ....

... but nothing happened till now..

Hi Babette,

where does this information come from?

On the Yamaha "History" website ("Corporate Chronology") it says:

2005    Acquires Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH

>>> https://www.yamaha.com/en/about/history/

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Chris :

I have always been told Yamaha bought Steinberg in 2002.
I cannot remember where this information came from, sorry.

Since then XGW has never been updated by Yamaha.
2002 was also the year Yamaha launched their Tyros1.

Best regards, Babette

Sorry for my late reply to this topic.

There's a bit of history about XGworks and its successors over at

https://midi-tutor.proboards.com/board/25/sol2

The program can be found on the internet archive if you search there for it.
Otherwise take a look at this thread:

Any help?

Colin.
