yamaha reliability

thinking of getting a psr sx 900.
how reliable are psrs nowadays?
do i need an extended warranty?
they are made in asia probably from chinese parts.

I have Yamaha MK 100 arranger which I bought in 1982 used it for couple of years and last year I turned it on after so many years still working so there is your answer.

Before buying my E463 I made an extensive research about what's available on the market in terms of price, features and quality. I specifically went on all official and unofficial forums and searched for problems people had with their keyboards. Yamaha is by far the most reliable of them all. Next is KORG and ROLAND. CASIO is the worst unfortunately. Here in EU you get 2 year warranty on top of all goodies included in every Yamaha keyboard - even in the most basic one.

That said I would not recommend hitting nails with your keyboard.

I already have several yamaha (PSRs) and I haven't had many problems.
Only with the display of the Psr 3000 and the floppy drive of the PSR 540.

Yamahais very reliable. But they produce millions of units, so sometimes faults happen. In that case you most likely get a replacement.
