Hi,

Am I right in saying that if I load a blank MFD onto the hard drive of my T4 I can use that to save my favorites into it and all the links to styles registration etc will work?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

You can set any existing MF record as a 'Favorite' in that particular MFD, either when you create a new record, or by scrolling to an existing record, pressing 'ADD TO FAVORITE' (H button) and confirming the action.  The manual says that this puts such records in a custom 'Favorites' folder, but really it is just acting as a database filter to limit the records displayed when the MF 'Favorite' tab is selected.

All records added as Favorites can be displayed simply by moving to the Favorite tab.

Alternatively you can set up a MF database starting from a blank MFD and only create records for the songs that you want, in which case they will all be displayed in the 'All' tab.

If you do this then there is not really any point in adding any of these records as favorites, since that MFD effectively already consists of your favorites!  Unless of course you want to set some of them as your favorite 'Favorites'!   :)

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the reply. ;D

I just wondered if when your original database is already full can you still add to the favorites folder?

Just to let you know I have ordered the parts for the Arduino foot controller. ;)
Thanks,

Hi Martin,

In a T4 MFD there can be up to 2500 records (note that MF records can recall either a style, or a MIDI song, or an Audio song, but not a registration)!

All the records in a MFD will be listed in the MF 'ALL' tab, but any of those records that have been specifically flagged as Favorites (either by using the 'Add To Favorites' button, or when the record was created or edited) will also be listed if you move to the 'Favorite' tab.

There are not two sets of records in an MFD.  Favorites are no more than a filtered subset of all records.

So you can't add a record only to the Favorite tab.  When you add a new record, it is just that, a new record (one of the 2500 max.) which will appear in the 'All' tab, but can also be marked as a Favorite, which will also make it appear in the Favorite tab.

Once you reach 2500 records you must start a new MFD file, but it is very quick and easy to save one MFD and replace it with another if that is what you are thinking of doing.

Hi Ian,

Thanks very much for the info, that makes it much clearer. :D

I'll check and see if I have reached 2500, if so I'll set up a new Favorites database.
