When I am playing a registration that includes a looping multipad and I want to change to a different registration that uses a different multipad, how do I stop the first multipad from continuing to play?

I've looked in the Lessons, but to no avail.

The easiest way would be to memorize the new multipad with SyncStarr. Then it will start playing with the first chord you play.

I've set up two registrations in the same bank, Reg1 is set to sync start main variation A and multipad1 bigband swing. Reg2 is set to sync start the style and multipad4 Twinkle Arpeggio.

I select Reg1 and play a chord. The style plays main variation A and multipad1 big band swing.. so far so good. I then call up Reg2. Twinklearpeggio appears in the display and multipad control 4 is flashing. I play a chord and the twinkle Arpeggio chimes in. But the first multipad is still playing.

If a reverse the sequence, start with Reg2, set it going, select Reg1 play chord, guitars start up, but the arpeggios are still going strong.

I seem to remember there's some sort of multipad stopper that you call up between the two registrations..

Turning the ACMP off in both registrations emphasises that the multipad chosen to sync start carries on playing when the other registration is selected and started by pressing a key.

Hi Alan, I had a look through my files and found the 'pad stopper' for you, I think it's what you need but I've not used it for so long I've forgotten what you do! I downloaded it from this forum I'm sure, several years ago but I've not been able to find it again on here during a search . Perhaps somebody will tell you, I've attached it anyway hope it helps anyway.

Well, the problem is you're not replacing the multipad.

You need to create a new multipad with the replacement in MP1. Then, when you load it, it will stop the old one, and start the new.

Yes, there's a padstopper available (I always just search for it). But it works on the same principle — you need to load it in top of.the old one. It actually does nothing, but the loading stops the old one, thus achieving what the pad says.

In your case, you want to start a new one, so there's no value in a padstopper. You'd have to create a new pad file anyways, so just create one with the replacement.

Sorry Fred, but I don't understand this. "Create a new multipad". I'm using a different multipad bank and a different multipad control.

That pad stopper certainly works. I sync started all four controls and stored it in a registration, which when I selected it stopped the previous multipad playing.

I think I've got it. The replacement multipad needs to be in the same location as the one being replaced. Then it overwrites the first one. So if the replacement is on a different button, I need to create a new bank with it on the same button.

Yip. I copied Button2's contents to location 4, saved is as a new bank, and hey presto.

Sorry I took so long.

Hi Alan
I have seen the thread about "Stopping a Multipad" here in the PSR forum from September 2018. You found the solution on how to use two multipads in the same song without overlapping. I would be very happy if you will explain it in detail. Thank you in advance for your help.

Create an empty Registration Bank and select it.
Choose a fairly "placid" style so that you can hear the multipads.
Select a Multipad (BigBandSwing1 or similar).
Press SyncStart and SyncStart Multipad MP1. Save as Registration Memory RM1
Save the Reg Bank. Prove that RM1 and a chord starts the style and the MP1. Stop everything.
Now Select a contrasting Multipad so that you can hear it (I used Twinkle Arpeggio)
Press SyncStart and SyncStart Multipad MP4. Save as Registration Memory RM2
Save the Reg Bank. Prove that RM2 and the same chord as above starts the style and the Multipad. Stop everything.
Now, press RM1 play a chord. Style and Multipad play.
Press RM2 and the same chord. Both Multipads are playing. This is not what we want. As Fred says above, we need to create a new Multipad with the desired replacement in Position1. It will then overwrite the first one.
Create an empty Multipad with Function/Multipad Creator
New Bank, Save – give it a name. It will be stored in User Memory
Back to base.
Select the second Multipad
Press Edit
Select Number 4
Press Copy, OK
Select your new bank. Edit. Select position 1. Paste. Save.
You've now got a Multipad with your desired selection in position 1
Use that Mutipad for Registration 2, and you've got what you want. (I hope)

Hi Alan
Thank you very much, now it works for me to.
Have a nice day.

Thank you Alan!  :)
I think I got the idea too.
Stoping the pad with prefectly correct timing by pressing the stop button was quite risky to me, even when I didn't want to play another pad right away.
