Pink Floyd????..... It's my favorite Group!!!!...
The dark side of the moon, Wish you where here, The Wall, The final cut, Animals and so many more!!!...
However with this we need Audio Styles (Audio Drums and more),.... I am a lover of old Pop, Rock, Soul, and more music....
I hope Yanaha to fix soon  the problems like Audio Styles, FX Chain, Sustain Pedal to create new wonderful Styles!!!

Just had a listen to the others ... Great.
Also love the Afro Pop
Great if you can remap to Genos .. I think they will be great!

I just wish someone would make a Pink Floyd style song album :)

Yes .. love them .. Seen them in concert three times! 👍😁
I am playing Great Gig In The Sky (DSOM) with modified freeplay style and CFX Stage Grand/Kino string modified DSP layers. 👍  Also Another Brick In The Wall (quite easy)
But Gilmore's slide guitar is impossible for me ... We need some kind of Ribbon Control for a pedal steel sound 😊

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PHI2jaLzWfY   < Good!

Im not so old .. but was brought up with Pink Floyd, Barclay James Harvest, Genesis, Deep Purple, etc.

Al.

You can use a "PedalSteelAmp" of your choice and turn on the "mono" Voice Effect. Then adjust the portamento to plus or minus "85". If it's to play solo notes, it's very good.

I hope you have understood what you wish and I am not explaining any nonsense.

Seems like Yamaha has stopped updating Genos.
They have something else to do than to correcting their programming errors and mistakes.
Yamaha seems to be pleased with Genos as it is, but I'm not satisfied.

But could they not actually be planning  something  big? Maybe an upgrade and not an update... I am just wandering..

I don't think you can say that three updates (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) in less than a year is "stopped updating Genos".

I could be wrong, but I think we'll all be pleasantly surprised that we'll see an update before the end of the year which not only fixes bugs but adds new features.

Here's hoping,

My guess -- they are on a six month update cycle similar to Montage.

I doubt it...
With montage evry update had new features and/or new content..

I think the arranger team deffinately works their own road..

Why does that negate pj's conjecture?

The Genos has been out less than a year. The last update had a significant new feature (Voice Guide).

I'm with pj. I think we'll see updates like Montage -- every six months, and at least one new feature.

Because they are on 2 whole different teams?
That so far have not shown much cohesion so far..

Only time will tell who is right..
Not really worth discussing this...
As both pj and me base our statement mostl on assumptions..

If Genos had been a car, had the consumer been satisfied with that condition Genos came out with?
You can only drive on first and second gear first year, then we'll see if there are more gears in the future. Who wants to buy such a car?
Having to wait almost a year to get all the mistakes corrected.... I do not think so.
Calling Genos a Digital Workstation is wrong (locked styles and incomplete editing options).
It's just a keyboard with styles to play and that's Genos good at. in today's implementation.

Hi Pierre,

I think your car analogy is somewhat exaggerated (missing gears). I believe the car (Genos) already has all the hardware installed (you already know upfront the Engine capacity, Seats, etc) The users are looking for software updates like updating navigation, being able to increase programmesettings of their seat which they seem to miss in this high end luxury car. Fair enough ;)

I think most of us are using our Genos with no problem. I have not come across any "mistakes" as you put it.
You will never have the perfect keyboard that suits everyone because everyone want's different things from it. Me I just want to take it out and play it and so I have spent time setting it up to do this by tweaking up my sounds and styles to produce what I want.

There is indeed nothng wrong with the Genos..
Sounds great, and no real bugs..

There is just some things missing i would like to see
The €1200 modx6 makes that even more clear.

But what Genos does, it does it excellent
The only thing many think wrong is the non tilting display
But you can't solve that with a software update.

Im glad to say that Yamaha did fix a few problems
with the previous upgrades.

Hello, as Pierre and Bacchus say, Genos is good only for it's able to do: Plug and Play. But with editing, it's a shame for a so expensive instrument. It's a big "toy" but not a professional instrument. Of course, sounds and styles are good but it's not all we can hope to go further and work professionaly ! The advertising that Yamaha did with it was, in my opinion, misleading

gerarde

It works very well for me "professionally".
I have been playing "professionally" since 1960.
I have backed up Chubby Checker, Bobby Rydell, and others, and played "professionally" in Nashville from 1987 to 2000.
And I have not found a better "professional" keyboard out there that sounds as good as the Genos or has the features that the Genos has.
If there is a better one, I would love to know about it, as I have tried Wersi, Ketron, Korg and Roland.

Gerard

Hi

I dont think there is a 'better' Arranger Keyboard out there .. just different ones.
If Genos wasnt there, I'd have 'maybe' gone to a Korg PA (although I had no complaints about my Tyros5-76)

Maybe I shouldn't comment here but I will give my "2 cents" anyway.

For those who haven't owned a "synth" or care to own one it is understandable that there are some musicians out there who "just want to play" while others want to create.  Creative people want to be able to do more than create new songs. For people with synths it's all about the "sounds".  Even Yamaha promotes this idea.  I have seen videos and read publications by Yamaha that state we can be inspired by a single sound alone to create a piece of music.  I think this is true... I'm a sound guy myself.

So... this back and forth about wanting a "synth arranger" is valid for some but not everyone.  Myself... I purchased a Motif Rack XS to satisfy my needs and am working on how I can integrate the Motif in a way that it becomes an extension of my arranger.  I've made a lot of progress on this attempt and just might publish an article for Joe W to include on the main PSR Tutorial site one day for those who are interested.

I seriously doubt that we will see Yamaha release an arranger/synth like Korg did.  But I would love to be proved wrong.

Cubase is not really best suited for that..

Mainstage has all the features you want from a live vst host..

Because you allready have a player and sequencer inside your genos..
You dont use most of the cubase features when playing
Cubase(or logic) however is very nice when creating comtent(midi) ..

Depending on your wants amd needs...
Sonically i agree with you...
And even for the total package of an arranger i agree with you..
Genos is on top of the game..

But for me it still leaves much to be desired ...
Thats mostly because i am not stricktly an arranger player..
And allways combined my arrangers with an 88 key workstation..
I love playing and creating my own sounds and multi layer/split setups
And adding several,arp's,to my styles..
Or recording my own style parts. And edditing them(midi) till perfection.
Because i am not the perfect player that plays everything in one take perfectly

But for a tradiional arranger player Genos has pretty much all the tools on board..
And it sounds Phantasic..

When i look however at my kronos and modx, there is quite some features i would love to see in the genos. Which would also make a great addition for traditional arranger players and hobby players in the long run...

Ikspeel

Only thing i need
Song a midi + song b midi same time with a option to start the midi from a marker
So i can play medley
And for the style play i always have my textfiles in genos i hope they give us colors bv.red for chords, and black for text it would make Reading the textfiles mutch beter
