I purchased a psr e443 for US$183.47. Is it a good deal?

Congrats for the new gig.
Well it depends on what you are expecting from the keyboard. If you are a beginner with less idea of keyboards and such stuff, then it does not matter to you. But if you have been playing these since a while, then you need to use it and decide if it matches your expectations. Well I won't consider the purchase of a Yamaha Keyboard, a bad deal anytime, but since I have been using these machines since a decade almost, and I keep a track of the market, so I find these Yamaha E series keyboards, awesome starter gigs.
However, IMO when E453 is counting its last days, and E463 already hitting the stores, getting a five year old keyboard has a few drawbacks as well. The one which might concern you after some time, is the speakers, followed by the polyphony. However that doesn't matter much, as the newer models are almost identical in other aspects.

The PSR-E443 is a very good keyboard.  I've had its predecessor -- the E433 -- for almost five years and I have been very happy with it.  I have been able to get almost any sound that I have wanted from it.  The E443 adds some extra sounds and styles, tunable scales, additional DJ patterns, and -- I think -- the ability to load 10 external styles at once, compared to the E433's ability to load five.  The E443 also has one additional chorus type.  The newer keyboards -- the E453 and E463 -- give you 16 more notes of polyphony (48 versus 32), DSP effects (like phaser, distortion, and rotary speaker), and additional sounds and styles.  The major addition on the newest model -- the E463 -- is a sampling feature.  The E453 and E463 each also have successively more DJ/groove patterns than the E433 and E443.

So, it really depends on how important those additional features would be to you.  In my opinion, $200 does seem a bit much for a keyboard that had a street price of just $50 more when it was brand new four years ago, but that could very well be the going price for these keyboards, as there is one on Craigslist near me where the seller is asking $225.  And I have been on the lookout for a used E433 to have as a back-up in case I start gigging (figuring that if my main one stopped working, I could easily load my registrations into the back-up, as the USR files are NOT compatible between the different models of E433 through E463) -- and I have not been able to find one.  And in a similar fashion, when I did see one on Craigslist several months ago, the seller was also asking $200-250 for it -- again, nearly the street price when it was new.

Hi --

Have fun with your new instrument! I enjoyed playing the E443 and have now passed it along to my nephew's youngsters. Too many keyboards, too few hands.  :)

Take care -- pj

"I purchased a psr e443 for US$183.47. Is it a good deal?"

Why the change in the price?  You originally said $200?  Was it an error in a currency conversion?

And, another important difference between my PSR-E433 and the E443, as well as the models above it, is that the newer models allow for sending external audio into the keyboard, processing that audio digitally, such as attempting to filter out the vocals, and then playing the modified audio through the keyboard's speakers.
