Hey Friends,
I almost "don't know enough to be dangerous" in asking about this question. I've been working to use Finale to hyper scribe saved original  songs on my Tyros for computer usable and eventually printable/editable sheet music. So far I've been able to transcribe live playing (piano only) to Finale on Macbook, but not a saved song file. I think that my midi cables /connections and midi choices selected on Tyros and / OR Finale program are incorrectly done. I'm wondering one of the brilliant technical people on here can give me a to do list for selecting the right settings (in Finale and on Tyros) as well as how to connect midi cables? (presently have a USB from computer to Edirol Midi Interface which splits into 2 midi cable connectors and have one plug into "IN" and one "OUT."  Presently I'm transcribing piano (only) as split staff, but open to lead sheet or orchestra staff (and can remove parts non needed).  I appreciate your consideration to answer, and appreciate this forum SO MUCH!!
Best to all,
John

I use Finale as well, but with a PC.

I found that connecting the keyboard to the computer was too much work. So if I have a "saved song file", I just put it on a USB stick, and use that as input to Finale.

But if you really want to use the connection, and you can get it to work with live playing, then just do the same with your song file. That is, play it. The computer will accept the input whether it's you playing the keys, or the song file playing. It's the same to the computer.
