Hi Guys,

Last week I have downloaded the newest Cubase 9.5 pro trial version.

Apparently many plug-ins do not show up in Cubase 9.5 pro, they are Blank ! ???

Do some of you recognize this problem ?

I have decided not to install this prog until further notice.

Plse advise. Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff

They show in the section on the right hand side of a blank project

You have to look for Instruments and then the Halion and groove Agent etc show up in Picture format
Instruments.
If you have your own vst It shows up as vst and then you have a little list.
Have a mooch around the top right hand side of the blank project and It will come after a bit of nut scratching!! :o

I had a devil of a job getting It going and It is not as easy as Sonar or Mixcraft to handle
The first grumble for me Is If I open cubase I get the hub show and then I choose a blank project hitting the button at the bottom of page right side.
If I close Cubase the blank page goes , there is another shell of the program at top of page with   the same top line of file ,edit etc.
It takes two hits to close Cubase down.

The next was pairing my Focusrite box and getting the latency settings set.
Each time you enter a new Cubase project ,you have to reset the soundcard as It all reverts back to a start preset.
So with Cubase you have to set your own template up and save It ,or several templates if you want different setups. PAIN!!
I did get Elements and It Is going to take me some time mastering this program as It is quite a bit different to The ones we know.
Another thing annoys me is the volume levels on the Genos Headphones are not as high as the Tyros 5.
I have yet to find the headphone control If there Is one at all.
You have to have the phones well above half way on the Volume knob to get anything decent.
If there Is not I will have to dig out my headphone amplifier.
That's all for now Jeff
It is on with loading up my new machine. Got to download all again and go through the pain of all them codes and failures and frustrations.
The machine is very fast now and It is only the download speeds that is the limitations.
I am amazed how fast loading the Arturia synths are now as they are intensive vst's.
Everything else after that is peanuts!!

What we need now is a CUBASE learners page for Sonar refugees!! ;D

OR for all Interested!!

First Cubase tip______________

When downloading and extracting the setup exe get 7zip to extract the file as windows extraction causes a glitch and states that the file path is too long

7 zip gets over this glitch.
Nothing worse when things going  wrong at the start and you are left scratching your poor old head!!! :P

Jeff,

You may have placed the VSTs in the wrong location  or maybe didn't update the VST directories to add the location of the VSTs you were looking for.  There can be multiple locations for the VSTs.  Cubase will look in all of the folders you add to the list.

John,    I found almost all the answers on YouTube vids,

I hope you will find time to be a musician and play your keyboard sometime,

Good luck to you, hope we can hear some of your work later.

John, about closing Cubase-- select "File | Quit" from the menu strip and it should close both the project window and the separate menu strip.

Jeff et al, be aware that Cubase no longer supports 32-bit plug-ins (unless you install and use a third-party "bridge" program). If you have any 32-bit plug-ins that you've been using with other DAWs, they will not show up in Cubase 9 or 9.5.

From the menu strip, select "Devices | Plug-in Manager" and you can see which plug-ins are being used (on the "VST Effects" and "VST Instruments" tabs), as well as which plug-ins are being ignored (on the "Blacklist" tab). Also, in the bottom left corner of the "Plug-in Manager" window are two icons-- an "i" and a gear. If the "i" is selected then the window will display "Plug-in Information" in the lower left pane of the window (click on a given plug-in in the upper left pane to see its information). If the gear is selected then the window will show you your "VST 2 Plug-in Path Settings," and there will be a plus sign on the right-hand side of the pane's title bar which lets you add more paths to the list. If you do add more paths, use the two arrows pointing to each other in a loop to rescan afterward.

Hi Pino

I have this mission to get It all in place first and go for it
I do practice every day, but I have got lots to do to settle this new computer machine In
Since the meltdown of Sonar ,I have gone to Cubase Elements to see If I get on with It .
It has enough in there for the Genos (Sys Ex) and Mixcraft is a lot more easier with vst.
I do not play out, and want to get everything right for recording.
To sit and play is the best thing for everything and It helps to get results without too much Lego brick building
I am all behind like an Elephants bum at the moment ;D and hope to get on the ball soon ;D 8)
I could not settle untill all the leads and wires were in place In my room and I have suffered neck pains and groin pains crawling around under my desks.
The Genos ,new speakers, a computer that gives up thee ghost and a new one being built.
It has been a busy month and hope I can settle for at least 5 years now!! :)

Hi Mike

Thanks for that tip
I also read that Control and Q does it
I think Cubase has a weird layout to what i have been used to .
I set my Focusrite soundbox to match the audio ins and outs for the computer and when closing down and restarting the settings have gone back to a default It seems.
So opening the program you have to keep going to audio settings and match the focusrite up again.
I got over this by making a simple template.
There are a few little quirks like that floating transport .When first opening Cubase you only see the transport bar with the play stop record buttons ,but no forward and rewind.
So you have to get the floating one. I wished you could grab It and position It at the top like In Sonar. Maybe you can , but there is some RTFM to do yet.
It is going to be a studying Christmas for me, but my other half says that will keep me quite for a change!!

John,

One of the benefits of Cubase is we can save our complicated setup as a Project File. So when we open the project... everything is setup EXACTLY as we want... no hassles.

But I admit, Cubase has a steep learning curve.  ;D
