Extern display for Genos

This is what I got from Yamaha Scandinavia about extern display on Genos.

As you may be aware, video-out connectivity is not part of the Genos specification.  The built-in USB-to-host socket facilitates a "Yamaha Internal Factory Function" in order to show the screen on an external display. This requires usage of certain USB-to-video adapters using a DisplayLink chipset of DL-1x5 series (e.g. Displaylink DL-165, DL-195 or Diamond Multimedia BVU-165, BVU-195) in order for Yamaha to utilise this in presentations, and specific demos.
Availability of these adaptors varies country by country, and of course Yamaha cannot give any guarantees as to their function.
USB-to-video is not mentioned on the website, brochure, owner's manual or any other documentation and it is not regarded as an official specification.

So from me Tommy forget all about extern display, touch display and so on.  :'(

You also need a USB to video adapter for the Montage too as most people know. It is probably because of the new touchscreen functionality on the Montage and Genos. In other words, you can use an external display for the Genos and the Montage but you cannot use the touchscreen functionality on the external display so an external display has limited use as opposed to the touchscreen on the Genos and Montage itself.

I would like to see Yamaha implement video playback on the Genos 2 where you could store .mp4 videos on the Genos 2 User drive and display those videos on an external display through an HDMI interface. Videos can be very useful during a live performance and the ability to utilize them from the keyboard itself would be very convenient and you wouldn't have to rely on another piece of equipment such as a laptop to do it.

The firmware of Montage supports touch on external display due to the inclusion of touch driver 'egalax':

The built-in touch screen on Montage becomes blank when external dispaly is connected.

The firmware of Genos does not support touch on external display - there is no built-in touch driver.  The built-in touch screen on Genos and external display show the same contents at the same time.  The external display can slow down the processing of Genos in some cases.

There are a certain advantages for using external display on Genos:
1.  Vast improvement for players with poor eyesight, using touch on built-in touch screen, and seeing the screen contents through much larger external display.
2.  Must-have for demonstration to show the audience Genos screen contents.
3.  Essential for displaying lyrics for the audience when playing MIDI karaoke files.
4.  All-in-one Windows devices with HDMI input allow switching between useful Windows based Yamaha arranger related programs and Genos screen contents.

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks for the clarification. By connecting an external monitor and playing an mp3 + CdG file, the song stops and displays an error message. You have to turn off and turn on Genos again. On the external monitor, the mp3 files with saved and synchronized lyrics are very well played.
It is easy to do on the computer in the application -MINILYRICS.
