Dear Friends,

in view of the events that did happen worldwide this year I allow myself to quote the text of Gilbert O'Sullivan's song:

"I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas.
All I'm dreaming of the whole day long is a peaceful world.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to those of you who live in fear.
And let us hope that very soon the peace you seek will then resume. ..."

I recorded the playback 2016 manually on the Tyros 5, the rest comes directly from the V-Accordion.

Hello everyone, it's almost that time again - winter is here and I remember my recording of the Petersburg sleigh ride from 2016.

In 2016 I recorded the playback manually on the Tyros 5, the rest comes directly from the V-accordion. However, the picture and sound were recorded in two separate runs, as I also use the Tyros 5's hardware recorder to record the V-accordion and cannot take any pictures there. So I recorded it again in another room for the picture recording. So if you notice slight discrepancies between the picture and sound, that's why.

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it.

Anything can be adjusted in midi. It's only a matter of how much work you're willing to go to.

I use Mixmaster, but there are other programs available.

Cheers,

Mandarin speaking but with Malaysia/Singapore slang, so it sounds weird.
Oh, I feel that... my parents (both born in Shanghai) never taught me Mandarin or Shanghainese, only Cantonese, so now that I did finally learn Mandarin, it's peppered with "Hong Kong-"isms... I don't tell people I a speak Mandarin. I tell them I understand Mandarin, but speak Mandonese... :D

Can't wait to visit Singapore in 2026 (finally going after 8 years of wanting to visit). would've been 2025, but we couldn't get a cruise there that we wanted til 2026, so back to Spain & Portugal for 2025!

Hello Larry

That is the same sound as my S950 could put out and the player never used the toggle to bend any notes.

I thought I read there was a new technique that the new voices used to bend on note and hold the other ones.

I knit, maybe that's why it took me 15 years to change up keyboards 🤣 😂 👍

The OP's question is certainly relevant in the forum here. Some keyboard players want the next model because that's the allure of tech I suppose. Some forum members don't have one yet and may decide to wait for the update. It's like phones, some like to update their smart phones every two years, some don't and value other upgrades such as keyboards. As KM mentioned, it's a personal choice.

As far as what improvements will they make? Maybe updated sound set? Add a Bosendorfer piano? Maybe a touchscreen and new U/I for an extra $200 to keep total price near $1,000

I was looking at the launch history on Wikipedia and noticed the launches were actually not that far apart. The most recent update to 670 did take 5 years but that model was a major overhaul. As speculated above, perhaps sometime in 2025.

DGX-620 (2006)
DGX-630 (2008)
DGX-640 (2010)
DGX-650 (2013)
DGX-660 (2016)
DGX-670 (2021)

Yamaha Tyros 5 / Adjustment in midi recording
Last post by Apollo292 - November 22, 2024, 04:50:04 PM
Hi all,
I know that volume and voices can be changed in a MIDI recording can the bass part be adjusted as the recording has too much bass.

Well, Tyros5 came out in 2013 and was replaced by Genos in 2017. So there is no current Tyros. But when I click on the link, I see at least 30 expansion packs for Tyros5 that you can download for free. I think that's better than nothing.

Yamaha no longer manufactures packs for the current Tyros5
