Title: Slide effect on brass instruments on the S975?
Post by: Toril S on Jan 20, 2020, 04:21 PM
Hello friends :) On my Tyros and Genos I can get a note slide effect if I play two notes one octave apart on e. e. a trumpet. I have tried this on every brass instrument on the 975, but no slide. Can I use a setting to get the effect, or is this a feature beyond the ability of the 975?

Hi Toril,

If you look at the voice type of those voices on Genos and Tyros5 that produce an auto 'glissando' when two notes are played one octave apart (actually from a minor7th to an octave apart), I suspect that you will find that they are Super Articulation 2 (S.Art2!).

The PSRs (even the SX models) do not have S.Art2! voices.  Although your S975 does have S.Art! voices. these do not have the auto articulations.

Thanks Ian! Yes, you are perfectly right, they are S.Art2! voices. I should have looked at the voice name :)
So, no glissando!  That means I have to practice to give those voices on the 975 more life by playing them better :)

You can get the slide effect - maybe more effectively- with the  pitch bend wheel or a pedal.

Try setting the mono button on the 975 to on and see if that doesn't give you what you want.
