Title: Connect 2 Bose L1 Compact to keyboard.
Post by: Jan-Eve on Oct 31, 2019, 10:27 AM
Hal-lo! I wonder what input I can use to connect 2 Bose L1 Compact to my keyboard.
I know where it is on the keyboard, but wich one can I use on the Bose to get stereosound ?
One cable at each left and right. Grateful for answer, from Jan - Eve.

Use the standard, 1/4-inch outputs of the arranger keyboard and connect them to the 1/4-inch inputs of the Bose L1 Compacts. Place the speakers on each side of the keyboard and a bit behind the player for best stereo effects. Keep in mind that only you will hear the stereo effects - not the audience. The Bose vertical array systems have such a wide dispersion that with it's 210-degree spread, their is an enormous amount of crossover, thus pretty much mixing the stereo into mono. However, the sounds will be full and rich, which is not a bad thing.

Hope this helps,

The Bose is a monaural amplifier and cannot produce stereo sound.  However, two of them can produce stereo if one is connected to the "R" output of the keyboard and the other is connected to the "L/L+R" output.  In each case you use a monaural cable with 1/4" plugs at both ends.  At the Bose, insert the plug into the Channel 2 jack, the one with the little guitar symbol next to it, and set the switch to the "Line Level" position.  I'd suggest you set the volume control on Channel 2 to the "10 o'clock" position to start with and make any adjustments later based on your experience.  The volume control on Channel 1 should be turned completely down unless you have a microphone plugged into that channel.  Volume settings should be the same on both Boses - any left-to-right adjustments that may be needed can be done with the keyboard balance controls.

Hal-lo Gary! Which one do you mean? The one you connect guitar and change it to level?
Or on the backside, is called Main, ballanced or unballanced?
Thanks from J - E.

Over the years I noticed a detail in the yamaha keyboards, when using the two channels, L + R, in a mono box, the reverb effect, from the microphone plugged into the keyboard, is changed to less. When two boxes are used, one playing the L channel and the other the R channel, the effect comes out just like the onboard speakers on the keyboard. I prefer to use two speakers, as I feel a richer sound and the microphone reverb sounds better.

Sorry I did not get back in a timely manner, but health issues have kept me away from the forum lately. Glad you were able to obtain the answer.
