I have a Genos 1 and plugged in a BT01 midi interface but it would not show up on my ipad . I tried the bto1 connection app, free from Yamaha's website and it found it, I could rename it, which I did to keyboard, but it still did not show up on my normal ipad Bluetooth connection screen. I then downloaded the Digital Piano Controller app, also free from Yamaha, ran it, picked a random piano, selected connect to BT01 and it works and now shows up on my iPad. Not tried it yet with mobilesheets, so it's fingers crossed.

Well just tried it again and this time did not connect, perhaps needs both apps to run or one at a time, I don't know, it definitely worked before. Might be useful hint for someone. To be honest I only use mobilesheets as a music page organiser without linking to my Genos, l like swapping styles with the same song so don't know what's what working with Bluetooth.

The Bluetooth connection between the mobile device and the Genos is established via the Bluetooth MIDI dialog in the respective music app (not via the Bluetooth menu under "Settings" on iOS or Android).

Very true, I tried setting up midi on  my mobilesheets app. and looked at the various options to connect but was never able to send or receive anything from my Genos. After I tried the two Yamaha apps and saw my genos now connected on the Bluetooth page on the settings screen on my iPad the various midi options in mobilesheets sprung to life and the keyboard and my iPad were connected. Why I can not connect again I've no idea and as it's not something I would use normally, unless someone can give me a clue, I give up.

And yet another letter. I've just started GarageBand on my iPad and it connected right away to my Genos as does mobilesheets. It's all beyond me.

Hi Den

I hardly ever use mine these days, but used to have problem. If i remember correctly it was to do with the sequence of powering setting up. Try a different squence.

Mobilesheets I love, but to be honest trying to connect it with my Genos and setting up registrations just does not appeal, especially now Ive downloaded a copy of Wikifonia in PDF form and put it on my mobilesheets, yes many I will never play and some are foreign but with over six thousand songs to pick from with almost anything I want and also they display on  my screen perfectly , I'm happy.

FWIW midi bluetooth can indeed be tricky:  I recently had inconsistent connection problems which turned out to be related to more than one device attempting to bluetooth connect to an instrument at the same time.  In my case I had forgotten Yamaha software was installed on my phone and that was messing with me trying to connect to my iPad.  By deleting (forgetting) the midi connection on those devices (and on a Mac also) I was able to seamlessly connect to the iPad. Not exactly magic just weird science  :D
