Dear friends,

decided to use Midi Song to Style on my Mac; downloaded the app; opens fine.

Tried to download Voice List for MIDI Song to Style, Yamaha site shows that does download, but I can't find the downloaded file on my Mac.

Any suggestion?

Thank you,

Angelo

Hi Angelo,

As far as I know, downloaded zip files are automatically unzipped on macOS. You should find the unzipped contents in your Library folder.

The file you mentioned, which contains the corresponding voice files for the MIDI Song to Style app, is named "MIDISongtoStyle_VoiceList_V1.01.zip." It contains a folder called "VoiceList." So, search for this folder in your Library folder, and you'll find the voice files there. For Genos, you need the file "Yamaha Genos.txt."

Here, just in case, is the download link for the zip file mentioned:

Hope this helps!

Dear ChrisPedia,

I did as for your indications, and now I got the folder unzipped, including Genos.txt. Thank you!

May I ask you another thing?
Opened the App, selected Genos.txt, loaded a Midi Song, pressed Play, the cursor moves.... but I can't hear anything, although the "Midi output device" says "Midi Song to Style Synth" (the "Midi Input device" is blank).
Can you help, please?

Thank you SO MUCH

Hi Angelo,

I'm glad you finally found the required Voice .txt file and were able to import it into the app.

If you're using the app's integrated software synth "MIDI Song to Style Synth" as your MIDI output device, make sure you also select the speakers used directly below this setting. On my Windows laptop, for example, I select "MME: Speakers (Realtek Audio)". Only then will you hear anything (of course, only if the speaker volume isn't turned down all the way ;) )

Ideally, the Genos should be connected directly to the computer, so in your case, it should be connected to the Mac via a USB Type-AB cable. On newer macOS versions, the Genos should then be directly selectable under "MIDI Output Device". Please select MIDI Port 1 (e.g., "Digital Workstation 1", "Digital Keyboard 1", or similar). This will control the SONG parts from the computer. You can control the voices used in the Genos Mixer (SONG tab). I recommend setting the SONG VOLUME on the Genos to around 70-80.

I hope these tips help you!

Best regards,
Chris
