Upgrading to Tyros 5

Hi guys.
Get my tyros 5 tomorrow upgrading from the psr1500. Can't wait to get started on this journey

That is a *significant* upgrade, enjoy the ride! (PSR1500 is roughly the same sound library as PSR9000; so you're literally jumping 5 generations of TOTLA)

I jumped from my PSR S650 to a Tyros 4 and the culture shock was massive so you are in for a treat. Then again I always used to see photos of tyros keyboards and drool over them knowing well I could never afford one!! Does your purchase include the MS05 sub woofer and speakers ... they do sound really good otherwise you need to get a set of speakers but I'm sure you know that already!!!

One suggestion is MAKE A KEYBED COVER The only issue I have ever had with my Tyros is dust/lint that gets under the PCB key contacts. I just bought a piece of clear 1mm PVC sheet from the hardware store and taped the corners and it keeps any dust getting under the keybed. An essential piece of gear!!! Even a piece of fabric will work well!

Hi chris and thanks for the heads up. It does indeed come with the speakers. I've drooled ever since I heard the tyros one being demonstrated In a local music shop a fair few years ago, now I can't believe I'm getting the series 5. Im hoping but fairly sure my sustain and volume pedals will work from my psr1500 so that should be good. I will come up with something to cover the keys with I'm sure.

Keyboard Dusk Cover.

For the past 50 years I have used a spare table cloth to cover every board I have owned.
You know it makes sence.

That's clever Graham!! and it's something that every household has anyway. I chose some clear PVC sheet cos I walked past it in the hardware store and thought "that would make a neat cover" I also use a Digitech 4 Vocalist floor unit and had enough over (the lady who cut me a metre of PVC off the roll was over generous) It's actually (due to the see thru material) allows me to wipe my hand over the cover to see if the cover is capturing the in air dust!!

A useful hint is that the T4 and the T5 work pretty well on both Tyros 4 and Tyros 5 styles and on either keyboard SA21 and SA2II voices are both recognised so a ton of T4 voices will work well. On the free market there are probably more T4 styles that use the SArt voices than the T5 so enjoy them!!! Most Yammy pedals work great on the Tyros series ..I use a Swamp Industries swell pedal rather than the FC7 as it's half the price

I also had a big jump from the PSR-2100 to the S-970 and Tyros 5. Glad to hear that you got the speakers, they are great. I also used to drool over the Tyros, not thinking that I ever would have the money to buy one. I purchased mine used, and it has worked perfectly. Have fun and enjoy!
