Hi everyone. I'd first like to introduce myself. I'm Greg, a 56yo guy from the North of England. I'm a novice piano player, but I'm really enjoying the learning process. I have always wanted to learn to play, but life got in the way for a long time (no regrets btw!). I'm an empty nester now, so I decided that it was better to learn now rather than never.

My aim was to teach myself the chord accompaniment and singing approach, in the hope that I'd eventually be able to "bang out a tune". I've really enjoyed the journey and I started with a Donner DP-20 (I think), but watched a few videos of the SX920 and had to have one (I'm not wealthy, just impulsive!) :)

I've progressed by learning the chords (with my unusually small hands!) and I can play quite a few songs in the chord based/singing approach. I started in October '24, so I'm happy with how it's going.

This brings me to an issue regarding purchasing style packs. I recently paid over a hundred pounds for two packs. One was an Xmas pack and the other said it was 1260 style files of ballads (the slow pace of ballads obviously enables me to play them easier, plus I'm a sucker for a slow song!).

However after downloading the Ballads pack, I was told that they didn't have a suggested song list for the files. I don't feel inclined to go through 1260 files trying to guess the song, so I've been burnt a bit.

So my question to you all is where is the best/reasonably priced place to download/buy these style or registration files? I have no problem paying, but the pack that I really liked from my previous supplier, which didn't have any fillers/unknown songs was £160 and I have to draw the line somewhere.

BTW I have had my SX920 for two full days now and I'm blown away. I look forward to being a positive contributor to the forums, but obviously I have limited experience to help people, but I hope that will change through time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks in advance to anyone that is able/willing to guide me to the best resource.

I hope you are all having an amazing Saturday night!

Hi Gregg

Welcome to the forum.  Great introduction by the way.

First a little tip from an old self taught (Useless) player.  Once you get used to the keyboard, learn how chords are formed, rather than just memorise them.  It was my biggest mistake.

Before you spend anymore money buying Expensive Packs, although I'm not familiar with the SX920, try downloading some of the older keyboard Music Finder Databases. They are converted by your keyboard to playlist with useful song titles.  You could also download some Yamaha playlists.

Another tio, DON'T buy anything from sites selling on Ebay that offer thousands of songs for a few pounds, they are generally just copies that you can download from the main section of this site.

Best of luck with the learning and just enjoy a great keyboard.

If you get all these styles you will have about 4000 to 5000 styles easy.

Cheers
