I just checked it out on my SX920 and the vocals do not come through using my headphones. But the vocals do come out of the Onboard speakers.

Yes the vocals come through the onboard speakers. I use it all the time.
However I would like it to come through headphones.

On My psr xs 920 Vocals come out headphones

That doesn't sound possible. Check you haven't plugged your mic into the wrong place.

Hi OTMM! Did you ever manage to get your vocals to come through your headphones? I've purchased the 920 this week and I'm having the same issue. Thanks in advance.

As far as a I know this should work. Certainly works on my CVP and on my PSR before that. But now there are a couple of others saying it doesn't work on the SX920, so I have to wonder if this is a design oversight or fault on this model.
If  you haven't done so already, go into menu/utility/speaker and play around with the different settings to see if it makes any difference. Shouldn't - but you never know.

I think the issue here, could be that starting with the t5, and subsequently G1, G2, PSRsx900/sx920 and A5000, you need to route your output according. Look for the line out page; usually the mic is routed separately. No other Yamaha arrangers use line output routing.

Nope, I just tested it on our sx920; if I route the mic to 1/2 instead of main L/R it removes the sound from both the headphones *and* the speakers, so that wasn't it.

In that case, it's probably just a simple matter shaft left shorting; there is *no* standardized shaft length for TRS minipin, so those minipin to 1/4" adapters often get it wrong, and you get automatic center cancelling (if you turn off the reverb, your kick and snare are also probably very quiet). If you can't hear the mic on your headphones, I'd wager that you're not using the original 1/8" to 1/4" adapter bit that came with your headphone.

Which is why I can't stress enough to hang onto the original mini to quarter trs headphone adapter that came with your headphone; if you need to purchased a 3rd party one, you run about a 50/50 chance of getting centre cancel (the solution is to try a different adapter until you find one that doesn't, or just buy a new headphone with 1/4" TRS).

Now if that *isn't* your issue (and you have a native 1/4" TRS headphone), and you're still getting no sound on the headphones? I'd need to *see* your setup what you're doing before I could answer you (which is why you should always go back and ask your salesperson; for in person product support!)

No there's no design flaw with the sx920 with this; this can happen on all PSR's/TOTLA's. Like I said, ours works fine, but I *can* get the mic to disappear on headphones if I grab an adapter bit with the wrong, center-cancelling shaft length.

Incidentally the same thing happens on any digital instrument (happens on digital drums all the time); if your headphone adapter shaft length isn't quite right for your 1/8" jack, you get center cancel on any monaural sound source (reverb adds stereo, so you might here *some* if you have a lot of reverb, but the dry mono center signal will still be erased)

*argh accidentally deleted too much while 'tidying' the above post.

"simple matter of the trs shaft length causing shorting (out)", which is how you get center cancel of monaural sounds

Hi Amwilburn, I'll try  a different adaptor and see if that fixes it. Thanks for taking the time to help.

I have 3 adapters to try and not sure which of the three came with the Headset. I retried the other two adapters and they worked fine. I can hear the mic through the headphone set.

I use a really cheap headphone set from Walmart, so the cost of the headset doesn't matter.

I even plugged in a cheaper pair of ear buds and I could hear my vocals with those as well.
