Good evening my friends.  I would like to ask a question please and would appreciate any guidance available from you more knowledgeable folks.  I have an SX720 and recently downloaded the 4 Bonus Expansion Packs that are specifically for the SX920 and SX720.  My question is:  Should I install them with the older Yamaha Expansion Manager (YEM) or the newer "Expansion Explorer" that is supposed to be superior.  I have done quite a bit of research and it seems that Yamaha is promoting the "Expansion Explorer".  However, I have also read that I may be able to install those 4 more easily with the older YEM.  Also, if I choose to use the Expansion Explorer, will the 4 Bonus Expansion Packs be available in the Expansion Explorer (are they included/found within the Expansion Explorer?)  In other words, could I obtain the same number of expansion packs from either option.  I feel that Yamaha is a wonderful product but may be a bit lax when providing instruction and guidance in regards to these type of questions and/or issues.  I expect that as the Expansion Explorer is developed, it will continually evolve into an exceptional product.  I understand that products of this nature are not perfect at first and that is just fine (that is what version updates and revisions are for, of course.  Thank you in advance....archie newton

hello,
Expansion packs that we download from Yamaha's site, can only be installed by using YEM.
As for installing expansion content, YEM and Exp.Explorer serve the same purpose, they only use different approach.

YEM
We download expansion packs and usually save them somewhere safe for later use. Expansion packs need to be imported into YEM first, where we can select what inside various packs we wish to be installed into keyboard.

Exp.Explorer
The content that we select is installed directly into keyboard. That is, we can not save that somewhere on hard drive for later use. Means, if Yamaha site becomes unavailable at some point, or if Yamaha decides to remove certain content, then we have nothing.

Note: in both cases, at installing new content on keyboard, previously installed content is automatically deleted.

YEM has one important advantage: it's the only tool where we can also create custom voices (by importing audio samples).
