Hi all,

I have upgraded to SX920 from SX900. I create my Expansion Pack using the Expansion Manager. After creating a pack install file which is a .cpi file, I load it in the SX920 however after going through the full install process at the end it it gives an error message "Failed to access data" and then cancels the installation. I am wondering where I am going wrong cause I had no such problems on the SX900.

Also how can I create a .ppi file as in the YEM the options are .cqi and .cpi

Thanks

Hi, I figured out its the usb pen drive which was creating all the problems. I had to discard quite a few of them and finally one worked. Thanks

Hello Khushroo,

I'm giving you my opinion, knowing that I could be wrong. If so, other members will correct me.
When you created your pack on the SX 900, you introduced the 900's "instrument info" into the Tarjet, which resulted in a 900's CPI pack. Therefore, it isn't recognized by the 920 since the "instrument info" coded isn't the same.
To give you an example, if I create a CPI pack from my G2, it won't be readable by a friend's G2 for the same reason.
So I advise you to go to the YAMAHA website and download all the free 920 packs and create a new pack from the YEM and the 920's "Instrument info sx 920."

Best Regards, Christia

Hello Khushroo,

Could you please provide some feedback on the answer I gave you, since you're the one who introduced the question?

Hi Christian,

I was creating the Pack install file from the packs for SX920 downloaded from the Yamaha Website. I was not including any packs from the SX900.  I managed to read an earlier post by someone on this forum who had the same problem and that it was the usb pendrives that were causing this. That rang a bell inside that the Sandisk usb pendrives that I have could be giving this error. I checked from the Yamaha compatible list of pendrives for SX920 and ordered one. This pendrive works flawlessly. So I assume that the pendrives  were the problem. Thanks for all your suggestions.
