Sending clock info between hardware and PSR SX920 (and also Genos 2)

Hello,

I just bought a Roland SH-4D synth/groovebox (very pleased with it, especially since recent firmware 2.0 update), in order to produce specific backing tracks more easily than by programming styles on the SX920.

I linked the SH-4D output to the SX920 Aux input, and this works fine. So far so good.

What I want to do now is for my SX920 and also my Genos 2 to send start/stop and BPM info (i.e. clock info) to the Roland SH-4D, so the Roland device knows when to start and stop playing the backing track, and at what BPM, as I play the main melody on the SX920.

Should this be done via MIDI or otherwise ? If so, how should I configure the SX920?

Btw, the Roland device has an external clock 3.5 jack input.

Or maybe it should be the other way around and the SH-4D should transmit clock info to the SX920.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Dov
