how to loop a drum sample?

I am trying to play this song that uses a drum sample
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tHifA57oAE

I found the drum sample. I loaded it into Yamaha expansion manager and imported it to psr sx720 but I cannot make it loop. It will play the drum sample once and that is it. I have to keep pressing on the key to trigger the sample again.

I then tried using LoopAuditioneer program to modify the .wav file and create a loop point. I imported that to the keyboard and it now loops the drum sample as long as I keep the key pressed down, but I want it to either loop indefinitely by activating the sustain pedal/button or by just pressing on the key once like an on and off switch. I cannot figure that out. Anyone know how I can make this drum sample loop indefinitely like in the video above?

#1
so I sort of figured it out. The edited Loop sample works when using a real sustain pedal. I was using the virtual sustain button on the keyboard and that does not work to sustain the drum sample. When I connected a real sustain pedal it works. It would be nice if I can get it to work with the button as well.

okay, so it does work with the hold button. I had to load the drum sample on the left part and press the hold button to get this to work. Now I need to figure out how to end the drum loop gracefully. If I press on the hold button to stop it, it just cuts off the sound right away, I want it to slowly sustain and fade out.

But at least I got it somewhat working and can practice the song.

Hi.

Why do you need to loop the audio drum sample? Why don't you split/chop the drum parts and create a drum kit with them? There are a lot of youtube tutorials on how to do that and what software you can use for.
Then create a style or a multipad with loop (I prefer style) and use it as you wish?

I find strange to use a drum loop with sustain, it is very atypically to use sustain in a drum, even if it is an audio sample on a key (I suppose), it sounds very strange to me. Sorry for repeating myself, but your job blowed my mind 🤯😂

Hi, I got the idea from the video above. He plays C2 and that triggers the drum sample and he then holds down the foot pedal to loop the sample until the end of the song where he let's go of the sustain pedal. He is doing it with kontakt, I thought I could do it with the PSR. But yes, you are right, I am going to learn how to splice this sample into a drum kit and create a style out of it. Thanks.

I see also the C key for drum loop... but you really don't need that on an arranger. You can build your style with that loop, no need of an audio loop for the drums. In my opinion audio loops being limited by tempo are useless sometimes. Is better to split the loop into parts and using those little samples build a drum kit, make a style, and you can use not only that loop, but you can make any beat you want using those split drum parts from the loop. It is not so hard, really!
