Hello,

Can anyone explain the main diferences between these two pack installation archive types:
.cpi .cqi ?

What are the advantages to use one ou another?

In principle I didn't see any apparent reason to use the .cpi once it takes much longer time to install the pack...

Thanks in advance.

As far as I've found out, and I've only started using Expansion lately...

I don't know about cpi and cqi, just that the files with extension beginning with 'c' are protected.
But with the ppi and pqi, the ppi file is a full install that formats Expansion when it adds content and the pqi file does not format but just updates the files. So it makes sense that pqi (and so maybe also cqi) is faster.

Hello Aprilla,

Your explanation actually makes sense, since the cpi file is substantially larger than the corresponding cqi file.

Thank you for your attention!

Have a nice weekend.

cqi is enCrypted Quick Install... ie it's only useful if you've already got content on your keyboard and want to add more (with the available space) without removing anything

That's right Mark, CQI is for quick installation, but certain rules should be followed.

does a 'c' file behave differently to the 'p' files?

Today I tried to install a CPI file to Expansion. At the time I had just a very few files in Expansion (from the Celtic pack) but the keyboard wouldn't load the cqi file, it wanted a cpi file. When I offered it the cpi file it installed fine.
I'm curious why it wouldn't install the cqi, it was the Bonus-Playlist Pack for 720 which just has registrations and playlists in it. I can navigate to the playlists and open them, but the titles won't load I get "File not found, or the name is inappropriate" message, yet they load and play if I open them as registrations. I did install the complete package as downloaded from Yamaha.

I've mentioned it before; but you can *not* install a cqi first; it has to be something else (cpi or ppi) before you can install any quick install versions.

I have. I've installed several as ppi. This was the first pqi I tried. I'll try a different Pack as pqi tomorrow, one with styles and voices.

PQI/CQI can only be installed if its predecessor is installed first. You must follow the rules I explained in the video (07:15)

I thought of this last night (in bed), that this might be the case.
I've watched your videos several times but I didn't take it in that each individual pack must be installed as ppi the first time. Only after that can that pack be re-installed/updated as pqi. Now I know.
