Dear friends,

I am going to buy a new compact sustain pedal for my PSR-SX920 and I am asking for an opinion, taking into account your valuable experience.

In principle, I am thinking about two models, the Yamaha fc5 or the Roland DP-2 (I intend to use it for sound articulation rather than sustain)

Both are budget pedals. What do you think about?

Thanks in advance.

Both these pedals are just switches, so I am not sure what you mean by sound articulation. These kind of pedals are really only good for switching functions, like registrations. And even then they can be a nuisance since they are seldom heavy enough to stay in position. Frankly, even just for simple switching I would go for a heavier, piano type pedal. Something you can really feel under your foot.
For sustain I would always opt for a piano type pedal, and there are several decent but low cost versions as well as the more expensive Yamaha FC 3A available. The simple switch pedal will operate sustain but you get no feel, and that makes it hard to use effectively.
For other functions like volume control or pitch bending, you need an expression pedal like the Yamaha FC 7. There are cheaper similar alternatives, but again they may be very cheaply made, and too light to stay in position.

The compact pedals are trash, they just dance away from your foot, and they are so flat that you almost don¨t feel them under your foot. Go for a piano style pedal, and a Yamaha F7 volume/expression pedal. Good luck.

I agree with Mike and Toril, go for a piano style type of pedal.  If you don't want to spend too much, there are other manufacturers that make similar pedals. Have a look for a "JOYO JSP-10 Sustain Pedal".

Dear friends,

Thank you for your valuable feedbacks.

In fact, i changed my mind and now i will go for the pianist style pedal, as suggested.   :)

Cheers
