I tried to update my Genos2 firmware version 1.2 and is unable to update the firm. I kept getting the message said (Install Data Not Found). Any suggestion would greatly appreciate.

Thank you

You need to unzip the files to the ROOT of the USB drive. Then follow the installation instructions.

Tell us what files are in the root of the USB stick.

Don't put the file into a folder on the USB device, but directly into the root of the USB.

So, when you open the USB partition (G:, or any letter) it should be visible.
Supposing your USB device letter is G:, the path to the installation file should be G:\GENOS2SETUP.PRG . Be aware, if you can see the extensions of your files in PC, then you also should see the extension of this installation file (.PRG), don't delete the extension. And be sure that the file was correctly unzipped, check the size of it: 329 MB (344,981,504 bytes)

And one more thing, make sure the USB device is formatted correctly, as when you insert it into the keyboard, when normal power on, you should see it into the device list of USBs devices. To test the USB, put a style on it and try to load it. If it works, then it should work with the firmware installation, too.

Is it in a folder, or in the root of the USB?

I'm pleased you posted this here.

You know, some of us may just think that we are the only people having this specific problem.  I had exactly the same issue as you and found the same solution as you by visiting the US site. I sourced my Genos 2 through a European site as the price was the best in the UK and even wondered if this made any difference!  When things don't go as planned we look everywhere for the underlying reasons.

Hi there
If you are still struggling, delete the previous download and start afresh. Try this: -

1.    Take a blank USB and put it in the USB to Device slot next to the HDMI slot
2.    Format the USB in the Genos
3.    Once formatted, turn off the Genos and remove the USB
4.    Download the firmware update from a Yamaha website to your PC desktop
5.    Extract the files (I use PeaZip) to the desktop and not to the download folder ( You can just extract to the USB but it's good practice to make sure all of your Yamaha stuff is saved - I have a Genos folder with backups of everything).
6.    You should have an icon on your desktop that looks like a blank piece of paper with GENOS2SET... as the filename
7.    Right-click that file, choose Properties and you will see the full filename as GENOS2ETUP.PRG and a size on disk as 329 MB (344,981,504 bytes). You don't need to open this file but if you do you cannot just click on a .PRG file to see its contents. You will be asked what app to use to open this file. If you really want to see the contents choose Notepad.
8.Insert your Yamaha formatted USB into your PC and copy GENOS2SETUP.PRG to that newly formatted USB.
9.    Remove the USB from your PC  and re-insert it into the same USB slot on your Genos as before
10.    Hold down the Start/Stop [ STYLE CONTROL] button with a finger on your right-hand and then with your left-hand switch on the Genos.
11.    If everything has worked properly you will be presented with the installation text and no error messages.

Let us know if this works please.
