Hi
What a load of dated rubbish, all German Schlager "two pints of lager and a packet of crisps please and a slap around the face wearing lederhosen"!!!
The only good thing that I can think of is trawling through the styles to hear if there are any usable sounds.
Why can't Yamaha give us something worthwhile like expanding the DX sounds for the new generator they put In.
Schlager music was my dad's music and I am 74.
More 60/70/80's stuff please.
Yamaha!!!, "cut out boring EDM plastic wind up toy music of the one button flashing light brigade with It's teletubby and pepper piggy followers"! ;D

I did not know that Van Halen's Jump was Schlager music!!!Lol.
Genos 2     AMD RYZEN  9 7900  12 Core Processor 32 ram,   Focusrite Scarlet 4i4 4th Gen.

It's not all German - the last one on the demo is clearly meant to be "sweet caroline".

Anyway I've had the Genos1 version of this for ages, and I actually quite like a lot of it ....!

I registered my SX920 keyboard but you need a Genos 2 Serial Number to download this file.

If anyone with a G2 keyboard gets this pack ... can you share the PPI file? (which contains the Styles.)

I am sure these styles can be edited to work in other keyboards with a bit of tweaking.

Cheers

This expansion pack is obviously intended for Schlager fans. Not everyone likes this kind of music. I don't like it either. But I think it's okay that others like it. Live and let live.

The Keyboard Arranger market in Germany is incredibly large. What I find a pity is that Yamaha does not make packs with music of this time and is more innovative. It is always the same old stuff that has been around for years and little modern is added.

Germany - Pints?
Monty Python did a short sketch without the lederhosen entitled: "The Fish Slapping Dance" which clearly alludes to traditional dancing in Germany. A YouTube link is not included here as it might be seen as offensive today with the Nazi insignia.

Must agree with your comments about both Schlager and Yamaha's poor attempts at EDM. I doubt the EDM beats have been changed in 20 years. It's either lazy by Yamaha or there is clearly a market.

As the late broadcaster and journalist Alan Whicker once said in one of his 'Whickers World' programmes:
" Nostalgia is not what it used to be".

Hi
You say the "The Keyboard Arranger market in Germany is incredibly large".

Would it be possible to point me in the direction of stats and demographics that shows Yamaha"s market in various countries? If market share is what is driving Yamaha innovation it would explain so much. I don't blame Yamaha if this is customer-driven.

DaPaleRider is correct, Germany is a huge market for them. In terms of %, the highest. So it makes sense that they make Schlager packs (which don't do much for me either, but the Yodeling is always interesting). Likewise, there is a huge number of arranger players in the Middle East, hence why so many great oriental/ME packs (and the very existence of the PSR-A series)

Thanks for the confirmation that in percentage terms, Germany is the largest market for Yamaha and the Middle East is a significant market. The bigger and more specific question is: " Who is buying "arranger" keyboards?" To which the obvious answer is those who can afford it!  The demographic would be interesting - over 40s;over 50s; over 60s and so on. Brand loyalty seems to be huge with Yamaha. How does it compare with other brands?

What am I doing wrong?

I have downloaded the Entertainer pack 2025, extracted the files, then copied the ppi file to a usb, put it in the genos2 and then get nothing under USB1 on the Genos. I read this should work direct on the Genos!!, or am I wrong.

If I copy the WHOLE Entertainer file to a usb and put it into the Genos under USB1 it shows Entertainer pack 2025 but then nothing more. Tapping on it produces nothing.

It has me beat,any help.Thanks

Here are just the styles. You will need to rework them a bit in your Genos keyboard.

I have not yet reworked all of them yet but they will work in my SX920 when I am done.

Hello Mike,

Here is a video which shows you how to extract STYLES from a PPI file.

Here is the link to get the PROGRAM

Yamaha seems to currently offer SX920 and Genos2 packs that this program allows anyone to obtain the styles and use in their keyboard, if they want to spend time reworking them a bit.

Hi there
In trying to answer my own questions I found this:

Global Electronic Keyboards Market 2024 by Manufacturers, Regions, Type and Application, Forecast to 2030

Guests are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

"Regionally, the report analyzes the Electronic Keyboards markets in key regions. North America [Which includes Canada and Mexico] and Europe [which includes Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, Italy, and Rest of Europe] are experiencing steady growth, driven by government initiatives and increasing consumer awareness. Asia-Pacific, particularly China, leads the global Electronic Keyboards market, with robust domestic demand, supportive policies, and a strong manufacturing base..." .....

[Middle East & Africa (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, South Africa, and Rest of Middle East & Africa]

"The report involves analyzing the market at a macro level:
Market Sizing and Segmentation: Report collect data on the overall market size, including the sales quantity (K Units), revenue generated, and market share of different by Type (e.g., 61-key Keyboard, 76-key Keyboard)."

Unfortunately for me the Single User License for the full report costs $3,480.00.

My need to know does not extend that far!

Ps, why not update the Latin Pack? I think Latin Pack currently use old Tyros4 voices and drum kit.

Especially should have brand new percussion especially for cuban.

Stonefish1959

Hello everybody!
I bought a Genos2 just a couple of months ago (I'm from Italy) and, when I switched it on for the first time, I was surprised that so many styles were built in schlager's style. In my opinion, Yamaha should consider that, undoubtedly, either a customer lives in Italy, or in Japan, or in Indonesia or everywhere else, it's not written in the stars that he likes their schlager styles. This is true even if their major market is supposed to be Germany.
I'm just talking about the built-in styles, as the expansion packs can be downloaded, tested and, eventually erased. Related to the expansion packs, many years ago, in 2011, I purchased a Clavinova CVP505, which I still own, and had access to an expansion pack containing a huge bank of styles related to many italian songs. Now it seems to be only schlager, schlager, schlager, balkan, middle east and far east. I'd like to remember to Yamaha programmers that Western Music, and the latin one as well, are still the most played in the world. Even in Germany, Italy, Indonesia and Japan. So, please, less schlagers and more stuff useful to everyone. Thanks in advance....

Dear Stonefish1959,

I'm an Italian too, and besides American, English and French songs, I love the most to play Italian songs, obviously.
To do that, I make Song/Styles, to get the nearest result I can to the original song.

So far I made nearly 600 Song/Styles, the majority being Italian songs. And to achieve that I just used Genos Styles (550 Genos1 + Genos2, that I converted to Genos1 = 800 Styles). This is an enormous source to make Song/Styles to fit any song of any genre, of any country.

It is just a matter of EXPLORING the Preset Styles, checking one after the other, to find the one that seems to be the nearest to the song you are interested to play. Frankly, doing this kind of search, sometimes I chosed also Schlager styles. Then you need to do some work to adjust the original Style to your requirements, of course.

The problem you mentioned would have been real a few decades ago, with old arrangers having a very small choice of Styles. Nowadays with Genos 2 having 800 Styles (!!!) we have just the "imbarazzo della scelta"  (translation: spoiled for choice).

Hope this help. Ciao

Angelo

Dear Angelo

It's wonderful that you are able and have the time to tweak existing styles and create something special - all credit to you sir.  But I find this statement to be quite incredible: "This is an enormous source to make Song/Styles to fit any song of any genre, of any country." [My emphasis].  Looking at the keyboards you have owned, I have no doubt that you have the skills and experience to do this.  However, when we talk about genres, Yamaha offer very very little for lovers of Ska or Reggae -  just to give two of many examples. Reggae used to be  a firm favourite in hotels used by surfers where I used to live and play.

For what it's worth, I'm not anti-Schlager music. On the contrary, having been to a German beer festival many years ago it was fantastic - the crowds, the atmosphere, the barmaids, the beer! And, when doing a music and art lecture about The Beatles in a Chinese art gallery just a few years ago, (where one of my German friends was present), I played a medley of beer-drinking songs to introduce the variety of music that bands from Liverpool were exposed to in Hamburg in the early days. For the regggae feel of Obla-Di-Obla-Da by The Beatles I had to use midi to make my point.

But to my taste, the  Entertainer styles are much of a muchness. I believe it would take a considerable amount of work to convert these styles to sound anything like Ska or Reggae- the basslines would require excessive intervention for starters.
