Managing Split Points and Fingering Settings

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a reliable default setup for split points and fingering. My goal is to have a standard configuration for most songs while allowing flexibility to adapt for specific pieces. Here's my current approach:
  • Set my preferred split points and fingering mode (e.g., "Fingered").
  • Use Parameter Lock ([MENU] > Utility > 3 Parameter Lock) to lock "Split Point" and "Fingering Type."
  • Save my default settings in a registration (with "Style" and "Voice" selected).
  • For songs that need different settings:
  • Turn off Parameter Lock, load the song-specific registration.
  • After the song, reload my default registration and re-enable Parameter Lock.
This works well for split points, but I'm unsure if it's the best approach for fingering settings.

Questions for the community:
  • Does locking "Fingering" in Parameter Lock reliably prevent unwanted changes when loading registrations?
  • Are there any downsides to locking "Fingering"?
  • Is there a more efficient way to manage split points and fingering for specific songs?

Looking forward to your insights! Thanks in advance!

Yes

You've found them. It's a pain to change something that's Parameter Locked

If this were me, I wouldn't use Parameter Lock. I would simply ensure that all my registrations load what I want them to load. Once the registrations are properly set up, you don't have to worry about these settings.

This is what I've ended up doing after confusing myself with different setups for this and for that. I have a Registration to set up for piano type playing and then each keyboard type song has the split/fingering setup I want for that. Best, for any I can change them at will and others aren't affected by it.

I'm learning my registrations, slow but pretty steady  ;D

Thanks @Fred Smith for the clarification.

As I use a lot of registrations from other sources, e.g. the bonus playlist, it looks like I will have to adjust them manually if I want to get rid of the parameter lock.

Just one question though: The fingering type is a keyboard setting that cannot be changed by registrations. Is this correct?

Agreed it's annoying to have to change 3rd party registrations.

Registrations CAN change the fingering. It's part of the Stule group.
