Hey, has anyone ever successfully converted a Band-in-a-Box .sty style for use on Yamaha Tyros keyboards? I want to convert the ZZBOSSA.STY (a Bossa Nova style from BIAB) and use it on my Tyros 5 keyboard. Is this even possible, as I learned from browsing the PG Music forums that BIAB has proprietary song and style formats and will not allow those to be converted and widely used on keyboards.
Will appreciate to learn your experience with the topic.

Hi StBrajko,

At first glance, it would be 'logical' to convert a BIAB style which the extension is .STY to a Yamaha style, which the extension is also .STY.
In reality, the two styles are quite different and can't be converted easily. I use BIAB since many years.
Under the hood, BIAB styles don't use a MIDI file, they use MIDI patterns : we have patterns for a full bar, we have pattern for a half-bar, patterns for specific chords, specific bass patterns,...
Yamaha styles does use a MIDI file containing all the sections of a style : MainA, MainB,...FillA, FillB,...,Intro1,...Break.

The solution is to create in BIAB a MIDI file with chord Cmaj7 for example. You have to decide, for example, to set the first four bars for the main A, the four next for MainB, etc.
Then you have to generate the style using the MIDI song to style Yamaha software.
A lot of work...I think it is better to look for PSR ready-to-go Bossa styles. It's just my opinion.
