I have the Maui5 PA system and I flipped the ON switch and got nothing this afternoon.

Does anyone know how to contact someone that can repair it?

My local repair shop can not help as they have no schematics or any way to obtain them. Plus they said even with the schematics they may not be able to get the parts from LD Systems.

I just tried a different electrical cord to the PA system and it is now working ... weird.

Hi Drake, does the line chord plug into a power supply, via a 2 or 3 pin type plug? I've had situations where over time, the mechanical contact of the plug and socket becomes poor. Unplugging and pushing back in restores the connection. May be as simple as that👍

Hello Dupe,

The issue was the chord from the wall outlet to the Maui5 base. I simply got an old PC electric chord from my basement. There was a short in the chord that came with my Maui5. I think my Maui5 is only 5 years old.

I did learn that if anything goes seriously wrong with the Maui5, it is a throw away item.

According to their sale rep:

This product is unfortunately out of warranty. In this case, you can still choose to send to our service center Panurgy (Rockaway,NJ)  but you will be responsible for the following costs paid to Panurgy:

-    $65 bench evaluation fee
-    $75/hr for labor
-    Cost of any parts needed for the repair
-    Cost of shipping to and from

I checked with my local Guitar Center store and they could not repair it unless they had the rights to the schematics and rights to purchase the repair parts from LS Systems. LS Systems will not turn either over to them.

So if a repair only took 1 hour to fix it. The minimum cost would be $200 plus the cost of the Parts. The unit only cost $600. If the parts cost another $100, that would make the repair cost $300 or half the cost for a new unit, thus making it a "Throw Away Item".

I inquired if Guitar Center could repair a similar Bose L1 PA system. His reply was .. no. Only a Bose authorized repair shop can fix it.

Yup, as I've mentioned from time to time, customers often ask us why don't we carry "x" brand items, and the answer is that we won't carry item that's hard to get warranty support for. Sometimes they buy them anyway, and find out the hard way what that actually entails.

We we won't carry any throwaway items, no.
