Fade Audio Tracks

I have a Yamaha CVP 805 and previously had a Genos 1.  (The operating systems are fairly similar, as I believe they probably are with some other Yamaha arrangers.)

Anyway, something that has perplexed me for a while is the apparent limitations on fading.  I have assigned one of the assignable buttons to fade out.  It works perfectly with (Yamaha on-board) styles playing.  However, the difficulty arises when, instead of a style, I use an audio mp3 backing track (which incidentally is saved to the particular registration in use). In this instance, the fade out just does not work.

Is this something that the Yamaha arrangers simply do not permit ?

I have got to say it is great to have such a resource as this forum. I sorely missed it during its recent absence.  Well done everyone.

The Yamaha keyboard can only fade out STYLES.

To have your MP3 fade out you can use the FREE program called Audacity:

Guets are not allowed to view links. In order to access the links, please Register or Login

You will simply open your MP3 file onto the program's screen.
Select the FADE OUT function from the menu at the top of the program.
Then at the end of the MP3 file Highlight where you want the FADE OUT to start and drag that to the end of your song.

Save it with a NEW name (to ensure you are happy with the length of the fade out)and you're done.

Thanks Drake.  I have migrated somewhat from Yamaha styles to audio backing tracks, which I have edited in Cubase.  Yes, I appreciate that a fade out can be achieved (on the audio file) in Cubase or similar but it would have been nice to fade on the fly.

Thanks again for your help - perhaps I should have another look at Audacity - probably a lot less complex than Cubase.
