HELLO ADMINS!

I went into the performers section, and it is flooded by ads and other pictures, almost impossible to navigate. Looks like it is falling apart!

Hi.
I think Psrtutorial.com site now has ADS, at least in Performers. On top and in the middle of the page.

ChrisH

Hi Toril

Shortly after PSR Styles took over they had all these free resources they inherited so putting ads up and hopefully people clicking on them will provide the new owners with some income to keep the site running  .. If you don't want to navigate the ads then just be careful where you click. Hopefully the new owners will soon introduce something where for an annual/monthly fee as a site supporter you will be able to have an ad free experience and browsing guests will generate enough income by clicking on ads.  Joe never had ads because he sold USB or downloads of all the freebies and that helped him pay for site hosting costs. He obviously had an agreement with performers/ posters/collectors to be able to sell their styles/midis etc etc on USB and probably the new owners don't have so all they can do is generate revenue with ads

Hi @Toril S,

Thanks for your feedback! Rest assured, the Performers section is not infected. As @ChrisH and @srmf mentioned, the ads you're seeing are from a trusted advertising partner we've connected with to help cover the site's considerable annual expenses. This type of ad setup is common across many sites, including YouTube.

Please don't worry—the ads are safe, and they supports us to keep the site running smoothly for everyone.

Best regards,
Alex

Thanks for the fast reply! I am not happy about ads, but I guess it cannot be avoided.

I was never asked permission if I minded my styles being sold. I have always given them freely to anyone who asked me. I ran my own forum for over ten years and paid for it myself. Did not dream of asking anyone for money to help run it. I enjoyed helping people to get the most from there keyboards It is the members who give all there  knowledge and advice for free that make a good forum. There is so much more up to date information on these fantastic Yamaha keyboards on You Tube and a lot from Yamaha them selves.

Hi Guys

I think the issue is that because the new owners actually sell their own styles they won't be asking for performers to upload so they have chosen the ads route to pay for hosting  .. like Toril I don't like ads especially crowded ones that make navigation difficult and often you end up with a misguided click and struggle to get out of it.  I do prefer the supporter method and it doesn't take a huge amount of money to host but I don't think Joe was trying to make a profit.  Eileen?? Joe AFAIK was purely offering a bulk download of all resources (or a posted USB) to help pay for the site costs. he never actually sold styles or resources so all you were paying for was the time to organise the huge amount of resources onto a USB or a download link.  The new owners haven't added any new content as Joe used to each week/month so I'm curious why they are keeping the website site running without adding anything new (apart from ads) I'm sure the forum could pay for itself just with a few top and bottom ads or a subscription fee like all the others?
Maybe Alex can explain it better???

Hi Chris,
I do understand about the costs of producing these content USB sticks. I was just answering your post where you say
Joe obviously had an agreement with performers/ posters/collectors to be able to sell their styles/midis etc etc.
So far I am not impressed by this forum. Far to many unnecessary sections to scroll past to get to one that may be of interest to read and comment on.
I am also not happy with an admin who dose not trust his members to operate a private message system which as we all know is part of most good forums.

The new content that Joe added were updates to the Performers Pages monthly. As for as new content added, there is now a page for the PSR-SX920, which includes the downloadable styles. The page was added but not added to the RECENT ADDITIONS section.

As far as I know there has not been any new Styles conversion submitted.

Roger used to DELETE every song that was posted in the "Songs Played by Forum Members" after 30 days. Now the new owners do not do that. So, there is no reason to have "Performers" pages anymore.

If you want you may add link in your signature to your BOX account where you store your MP3 and Midi files. Members can click on that link and see ALL the material you have shared in previous posts. There is no need for the Admin to spend so much time doing that for all the members.

Drake, I disagree concerning the performers page. Before it was a tidy page, easy for everyone to navigate, where you could present yourself and your music, I used those pages a lot to listen to other members music and learn from it. Now they are cluttered with all kinds of awful ads stuff.  I am not happy at all about this!

For me, the problem with the ads is not their existence, but that they are placed so intrusively.

There is actually no reason to have the styles or songs page either Drake because they are never updated. The old website used to have performers, gig disks collections and members used to upload/email Joe sets of resources that he would carefully check and add to the correct section for members. Usually websites that do need a small income to pay for hosting might have a single placed ad at the top and bottom of the page but that never distracted from the readable content. They might as well delete all the old website and place their ads on the forum but I would suspect that it will stay as it must be generating a fair income.
