Could someone help me? I am wanting to use my Yamaha sx600 as a midi controller to use in programs like kontakt or hauptwerk but it is not recognized. I installed Yamaha Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver on my computer with windows 11 but all the sound coming out of my computer comes out through the Yamaha sx600 speakers. I have tried to install Yamaha USB MID DRIVER but when I try to install it I get a message that there is no device connected. I have changed the USB cable and it still does not work. So I have a question, can't the Yamaha SX600 be used as a midi controller?

Hi,

Yes, you should be able to use your SX600 as a MIDI controller for your computer software.

The SX600's USB TO HOST connector is supposed to be a class-compliant USB-MIDI device, which means that no driver installation should be necessary for MIDI-only operation. I would therefore recommend that you uninstall the Yamaha Steinberg USB and Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers, reboot your computer and then try connecting the SX600 again. Hopefully, you'll then find its MIDI input/output ports available in your software.

The Yamaha Steinberg USB driver provides additional audio input/output ports for your computer, but I believe it only has MIDI functionality when combined with certain products (mainly external Audio/MIDI interfaces).

Hello, thanks for answering, I have uninstalled the Yamaha Steinberg USB drivers, I do not have the Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers installed as I said when I try to install the Yamaha USB-MIDI I get a message about the device not connected when it is actually connected but continuing I have uninstalled the Yamaha Steinberg USB drivers and restarted my computer and directly connected my Yamaha SX600 keyboard and in devices on the computer I get a driver error

I understand.

Are the unnecessary drivers still listed in Windows Settings' Apps & Features list, or in the Control Panel's Programs list?

I'll try installing Windows from scratch and see how it goes, I'll keep you posted.

I use my SX900 as a midi controller for all of my midi progs... Studio One, Native Instruments, etc.  No drivers needed, but I run mine thru the midi in/out of my SX to a sound interface with midi IO .  If you don't have a sound interface, you may be able to use like a Uno midi device.

Hello friends, I have news, I have reinstalled Windows and downloaded the programs I wanted to use again and, surprise, it has detected my sx600 as a digital keyboard. I only selected my keyboard in the program and it worked. It should be noted that I did not install any driver, I only made a direct connection from the keyboard to the computer. Thank you very much for your help.

that's good... are you saying you connected to your computer with a USB cord?
