Hi everyone , I was looking for a solution to my problem and i found this forum .
The problem is the following :
When i upload my midi file in the app (in this case is 'make it with chu virgin material remix . mid ') for converting , it does the convertion but near the finish it sends an error message saying ' SFM read error occurred : (invalid division) ' .
I took a look around but can't find this problem even in the troubleshooting paragraph at the end of the manual .
Do somebody know how to fix this error?

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, @AngryGuyLostAnAfternoon!

If you haven't already done so, I would first test some other MIDI files to make sure that the "MIDI Song to Style" program basically works.

The MIDI file mentioned is probably (partially) faulty. I recommend to do the following:

- If you have not yet installed the (Windows) program "PSRUTI" (V8.21), please download it from the following link and install it on your PC:
>>> https://heikoplate.de/psruti.html

- Start PSRUTI and load the MIDI file in question (click on the [...] button).

- Click on the "Optimize XG" button.

- Click on the "Save as ..." button and use a new/changed file name so that the original file is not overwritten.
Attention: If you click on the "Save" button, the original file will be overwritten WITHOUT ASK.

- Close the "PSRUTI" program.

- Test the newly saved MIDI file in the "Midi Song to Style" program. If you are lucky, PSRUTI has fixed the MIDI error(s) contained.

By the way, PSRUTI always saves MIDI files in SMF0 format and in the XG standard (just like Yamaha arranger keyboards).

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Thank you , it doesn't give the read error anymore but it doesn't recognize the instruments and the tracks automatically like in the video tutorial , everything is compressed in MAIN A in the form of a piano .

Thanks for your feedback, @AngryGuyLostAnAfternoon!

There are so many different ways MIDI files can be programmed. So I think it's quite normal that creating styles from MIDI files doesn't work equally well for all avilable MIDI files. Did you also use the "Edit" tab in the MIDI Song to Style program?

By the way, if it's not an XG MIDI file, you could try loading the file into the PSRUTI program first, running "Optimize XG" there and resave the file.

You could also try editing the MIDI file in a suitable program (e.g. a DAW) first to get better results in the MIDI Song to Style program.

I wish you the best of luck!

Best regards,
Chris
