SX-700 Style "Voice" Editing for a Style

Hi

I've created a new style and really need the guitar voice to sound a lot more powerful than the original one.

I've edited and saved a new guitar voice as per the Reference Manual. (https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/7/1279207/psrsx900_en_rm_b0.pdf Page 46) And all's well!

However, when I try to use it in the new Style, (i.e. it's not an existing one that I'm using as a base), it refuses to use the edited one.

It's extremely frustrating for something that is probably down to me not pressing the right button somewhere.

hello Phil,
You can not use edited voice in a style. I mean, you can use it, but the settings you've made on voice won't be applied. Maybe you noticed, that when you select some different guitar (or any other) voices in style track, many voices seems to sound the same. That's because they are the same voices (same samples)!

When you listen to those voices for example on Right1, they all sound differently. That's because they only differentiate in settings -those settings however are not applied when the voice is used in style. Btw. you have probably also noticed that you cannot edit voices if you select them in Style Creator.

The only thing that you can do is, you select the voice that's close enough to what you want and then (while you're inside Style Creator) open Mixer by pressing Mixer/EQ button. Here (in Style panel) you can make some changes (EQ, effect, etc.) on desired channel voice. When you're done, exit Mixer and you'll be returned to Style Creator -and now your settings that you just made will be remembered for that voice on that particular channel.

Just to follow up on Bogdan's comment.

The DSP effect applied to the guitar voice makes a huge difference in the sound. Definitely read up on DSP effects and how to save them in your style parts.
