Hi all, I have had the Genos 2 for a couple of weeks now and I have been able to download a midi and play the melody  with the right hand.
Does anyone know how I can get the left hand to play chords with the midi. Is this possible with the Genos 2 settings?.
I have tried to do it via midi 2 style with out success. Thank you

No, you cannot change chords of midi melody while you play it, because midi file is a finished song. We can do that only by using styles.
Quite a lot of experience is needed to be able to create a style from midi -and even then the success is not always guaranteed.

Hi John,

Of course you can play with your left hand (just like with your right hand) WITH a MIDI file. Just make sure that ACMP is OFF and the LEFT part is ON, and select the desired voice for the Left part. But as Bogdan already mentioned, you cannot change the chords in a MIDI file during playback.

Best regards,
Chris

Genos2 style chords can definitely be controlled with MIDI.

You need to be sending the MIDI to the G2 from a connected computer. In the G2 MIDI settings, turn the Receive channel to Off. Then check mark that same channel in the Chord Detect section.

I do this all the time, using Cubase on my PC. Audacity has some MIDI capabilities, so it might be possible to use it as a free alternative.

play along / learn with midifiles

Load midi into the player - activate the sync button > select the appropriate style with start starts the midi file + style > accompaniment tracks are taken over by the style and so I can play the chords + melody with the midi.
