Using MIDI pedal board and pedals connected directly at the same time

As far as you know, can you use a MIDI pedalboard and the three pedals provided for our keyboard at the same time? Thank you and best regards

Hi Genos1957,

Yes, you can use a MIDI connected pedal board at the same time as pedals connected to the Assignable Foot Pedal jacks without any problems.

You can configure the MIDI pedal board settings on the Genos in "Menu > MIDI > External Controller". To configure directly connected pedals, press "Direct Access" and then press/move the pedal in question to open the Assignable display. Close the Assignable display (press EXIT button or touch the X icon) to save changed settings.

Best regards,
Chris

Many thanks, however can you confirm that with the registration sequence function the aforementioned pedals will not work?

Hi Genos1957,

For the Registration Sequence function to work, it must of course be switched on. (This is only possible globally, not per registration.)

In the Registration Sequence display, you can assign one or two pedals to this function. The pedals assigned here are then no longer available for "normal" pedal functions, i.e. this will override the function set for the pedal in question in the Assignable display.

If you only assign one pedal to the Registration Sequence (e.g. "Regist +" > Pedal 2, but do NOT assign a pedal to "Regist -"), you can use the other two foot pedals normally (e.g. Pedal 1 > Sustain and Pedal 3 > Volume). You can still access "Regist -" by assigning this function to an Assignable Button (assign "Registration Memory -" under [MENU] > [Assignable].

Alternatively, the Registration Sequence function can also be controlled via a connected MIDI pedal board, because under "MIDI > External Controller" there are also the assignable functions "Regist Sequence +" and "Regist Sequence -" (see page 150 of the Genos Reference Manual). In this case, you can switch off all pedals in the Registration Sequence display and can then use up to three directly connected pedals for "normal" functions again.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris

Many thanks, I have adopted the last solution and it is proving to be very effective. The only downside is the presence of a lot of extra material. The ideal would be to be able to use only the MIDI pedalboard.

Genos1957,

I am currently using the Yamaha MFC-10 MIDI Pedal Board, with three assigned pedals in the pedal jacks and also use Registration Sequence all at the same time.
It works flawlessly.

What do you mean by Midi Pedal Board?  something like the MFC1010, or like the bass pedals of an organ?  For the MFC, you can assign registration + (or -) to one of those pedals.  The option, under MIDI>External Controller is on page 11 of the list.  Just assign the MFC to play one of the notes, or CC#.

It can be possible to set it up on midi bass pedals, if you can assign the notes and channels to the bass pedals.  I built mine with an arduino, and I set one pedal to play C#-1, on channel 8.  All the rest play on Channel 1.  On the Genos, Channel 8 is set to external controller, and On Bass is set to Channel one.  Both work at the same time.

Hope this helps!

Thank you, I mean the mfc10. But I think I've solved the problem, even if I don't like the solution at all. I have to, to cover all the necessities, use mfc10 and two pedals connected directly to the Genos. I need the two pedals to be able to control the volume of right 1 , 2 and 3 and the Leslie and Gilde effect. These last two I can't assign them in any way to the MIDI pedalboard.

Yes there are some limitations to what you can control, that's why I use 3 additional pedals directly into keyboard.
