Hi Guys

I have a minor issue with my C2 key ..It seems to be OK sometimes but other times it doesn't start my style section if I happen to be playing in C .. Suggestions I have seen so far is maybe lint  around the conductive rubber or maybe it was previously used a LOT and the rubber has worn out. I don't want to dis-assemble the whole machine to check for dirt so I have firstly ordered a new conductive rubber ..In the meantime if it IS only fluff/lint/dirt does anyone have any suggestions on cleaning it out without undoing the base ..eg: turn it up on it's edge or blasting inside the C2 area with clean air (aerosol can type)  Anyone had this issue? The keyboard is very clean outside but based on all the stuff I took off the HD it probably was used quite a lot!

Hi Guys ..Just an update on dead keys (sometimes) I followed a wonderful videos with the T4 and a guy did a step by step tutorial on keys that give issues ...I actually ordered a new conductive rubber strip but all that needed was a clean with iso alcohol together with the pcb contact strips. I was truly amazed at the amount of dust in the keyboard so my new number one rule is if you are not playing then put a cover on it!  I made a nice transparent cover with some 0.3mm clear plastic. The amount of dirt under the key fronts was also amazing and you cannot get to that section unless you open the keyboard

If anyone is having dead/intermittent key issues then this video is an essential!!!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sQWuB2XAcs

Hi Chris, Thanks for the link.I have the same problem with my T4 and was wondering if you had anything that I need to watch out for. Did you clean the PC board with Q tips and alcohol and replace all rubber strips or just the bad ones. I play with single finger cords and the C-G and F only play if hit hard. Thank you for any other information on this task ahead.

Chris Sorry for some of the questions. I did not read all your up date. Still would like any information you may have.

Hi Harden

No issue at all.  I just followed the video step by step and it was very good.  Whatever the guy said to do I did ..so once you have the keyboard back up the right way and the lid leaning against a wall or similar (I rolled up two towels to support the lid too underneath) Then I grabbed 3 cotton buds and found a LOT of dust in front of the keys which is normally covered by the lid.  I too run single finger so my C2 sometimes worked so I took all the keys out and pulled off the rubber conductive strip ..the one on the left is the 13 contact one ..Now, my courier messed up my delivery so my spare strip never arrived ..I just cleaned the contact strip and then cleaned the PCB contacts under it with alcohol too (don't use anything else except iso alcohol .. contact cleaner will destroy the board!!!)  As I didn't have my spare conductive rubber I just assembled it again and the C2 key now works fine.   GET A COVER for your keyboard ..I have a piece of clear plastic that works well.  I do have my E4 key which now and again gives an extra loud squawk on some sounds but if I turn off my touch sensitive setting it's fine so I suspect on of the carbon contacts have an issue (I did clean under the PCB but need to get a spare 12 contact rubber.     If you need any help just holler!!

Thanks so much Chris for all your help. This will make the task at hand a lot easier. I have  a complete set of rubber strips. I will tackle this when I feel a bit better. What is going on with the PSR Forum? The only way I can get to it is google PSR Tutorial and open it from there. It says on my home page that the forum is no longer available.

It takes less time than you think to change the rubbers but I found mine were just simply dust and dirt .. you only need to change the rubbers if they are split or damaged or the carbon contacts on the underside are damaged ..I just cleaned the carbon points with iso alcohol and then cleaned the pcb tracks they sit over as well ..the tracks seemed to be the main cause of poor key contact.

The server that the forum is hosted on was updated which caused problems with the forum software but it's all OK now ..there was a short period where you could get to the tutorial site but not to the forum but all seems great again!

hi, just joined the club. i have had the same problems on my t4, used a computer solvent cleaner with a long nozzle, a 2 second blast into the particular key area and work the key a few times, no more problems, this was about jan/feb 24. hope this helps, 'sooty'

Thanks Sooty

The REAL secret is to keep a cover over your Tyros simply so dust cannot get in! I made a clear plastic cover from 1mm clear PVC and it works a treat! Someone did mention that it's not good to use switch cleaner or computer contact cleaner so I went the safe option and used ISO alcohol ,,it does pay to actually open the case and clean the PCB contacts rather than do it from the outside ..I did try a "clean air" can from the outside but I was told that it doesn't clean the contacts it just shifts the dust around inside the case. As long as your is working that's great
