Just want DGX-670 to start up as CFX-Grand

When I start up my DGX-670, it always opens with Accompaniment On. How can I get it to open with Accompaniment off and start up as a plain CFX-Grand? On my previous PSR-E453, it was easy—I just pushed the Portable Grand button.

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, glness!

I don't own a DGX-670, but I think it should start, like all other Yamaha arranger keyboards, with a piano voice and ACMP turned off.

If the OTS LINK button is ON, please switch it OFF and restart the DGX-670. Maybe this will do the trick.

Also note that the last loaded registration bank is automatically loaded again after a restart. If you press a registration memory button immediately after starting and the "ACMP ON" status is memorized in this registration, ACMP would of course be switched on again immediately. To avoid this, you could create/use registrations in which Style/ACMP is not memorized (so-called "Voice Registrations").

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

You can boot it up and press the Piano room button, but I'm not sure why that's easier than simply pressing the ACMP button to turn it off?

Interestingly our DGX670 boots up in cfx with no ACMP, despite there being a saved /loaded default registration which *does* have ACMP on for the 1st 2 registrations (the 3rd & 4th are blank). Maybe because registrations 1 & 2 don't use piano?

But yes, the piano room button is the modern "Piano Only" button on weighted key Yamaha arrangers; it's on all the CVP's as well since 609

Thank you, Chris! The OTS is off. I remedied it by creating a voice registration for my playlists. I am still trying to understand why ACMP is on when I start up the DGX-670 with a previous Style registration and haven't touched anything on the DGX except the power button. It seems like everyone else defaults to the ACMP off in this scenario. It's not a big deal to just turn it off.

Thank you for your response, Mark. The piano room button does the trick, and of course, I can just press the ACMP button to turn it off. Mostly, I am just curious why every other Yamaha keyboard seems to default to ACMP off when you hit the power button, but mine defaults to on no matter what I do. I appreciate your suggestions!

That is, indeed baffling! Like I said, ours defaults to CFX, no ACMP when I turn it on. Unfortunately, I don't know what's making yours boot up with ACMP, but I *have* actually seen this before (we had a couple of CVP's, which also normally bootup without ACMP on, suddenly boot up with!! I *think* doing a full system reset fixed it, but as those mostly happened years ago, I can't remember.

We also have a CVP909 that now *intentionally* boots up with ACMP on, after Craig Knudsen installed his "USA Edition" update on it.

Mark

*update* either I wasn't paying attention or I've accidentally changed a setting, but the DGX670 *does* now boot up with ACMP on.

But I didn't notice because I'd set it to full keyboard mode, so there's no 'stop acmp' sound, just the piano when it boots up. (without pressing start/stop, it'll just play the CFX piano sound). Which ironically could be a solution to your issue?

I blame this on old age :P
