Hi Everyone,

I am back after a long break away from PSR!

I have just bought a Genos 2 and I need a Bird Tweet for one of my arrangements.   This was available on my CVP909 but I have searched both Legacy, Drum Kits and Noise Kit and for some reason cannot find it - surely Yamaha haven't deleted this sound?

So if anyone can give me precise instructions on how to locate it, I would be most grateful - thanks so much.

Best wishes
Susie

Welcome back to the PSR Tutorial Forum, Susie!

First, please open the Voice Selection display (e.g. by pressing one of the Voice Select buttons). There, touch the "Menu" icon and make sure that "Category" is set to "Open Only" (NOT "Open&Select"). I also recommend setting "Voice Number" to "Show" here. Then close the Menu pop-up.

There is a "Bird Tweet" sound on Genos2 under "Preset > Drumkit > P6 > NewSFX Kit1" on key D6 (right after the "Dog" and "Horse" sounds). However, this is just a single, short "Chirp" sound.

The same short "Bird Tweet" sound is also available under "Preset > Up arrow > P2 > Legacy > P2 > Drumkit > P2 > SFX Kit1" (also on key D6).

The previously known voices "BirdTweet1" and "BirdTweet2" (playable across the entire keyboard) are in the "GM&XG" voice category. Unfortunately, these voices can only be selected directly for Style and Song parts on newer models such as Genos2, but not for Keyboard parts. However, there are several workarounds to still use GM&XG voices in Keyboard parts.

Here is a relatively simple option for you:

- Open the Mixer display on the Genos2 and select "Song". Touch one of the voice icons to open the Voice Selection display.

- Make sure "Preset" is selected. Touch the Up arrow (if necessary several times until the Up arrow icon disappears and you are in the top folder level).

- Go to "P2 > GM&XG > P2 > SoundEffect > P1".

- Touch and hold the voice "BirdTweet1" until you see a yellow mark indicating that the voice has been added to the Favorites. Repeat this with the voice "BirdTweet2". If you now touch the icon (next to "Preset" and "User"), you should see these two voices.

- Close this Voice Selection display.

- Now open the Voice Selection display for the desired Keyboard part (e.g. by pressing the relevant "Voice Select" button).

- Touch the icon (Favorites) and test the two BirdTweet voices.  :)

Of course you can also memorize these voices in Registrations and/or save them as User Voices.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Chris
● Everyone kept saying "That won't work!" - Then someone came along who didn't know that, and - just did it.
● Never put the Manual too far away: There's more in it than you think! ;-)

Hi Chris

Thanks so much for your very kind and comprehensive reply - I shall have a cup of coffee and then armed with your instructions I shall have a go and try and find these sounds!   I am hugely appreciative of your quick response!

The trouble is that you almost need a degree in Music IT to work around so much of this - thanks heavens for PSR and the kind contributors - where would we be without you!

I'll let you know how I get on!!!   Once again, thank you so much.

With best wishes
Susie
